Thank God Barton isn't Welsh or he'd be a shoe-in. Why not go the whole hog and get Robbie (Whatever did I bring to a football pitch?) Savage. He's Welsh. There's only one Welshman I would want and I am sorry that he has passed on and can't grace the sky blue - John Charles but Hughes would . . . . . . .
The Observer has Hughes down for Diarra, Bridge and Rocky Marciano Santa Claus. This is more realistic and might stave off a second half of the season dog fight with the likes of Brom, Potters, Blackburn and Eintacht Stretford. Just threw the last one in to show how high my hopes are.
