i kid u not,this really happened today...

you finished fifth after spending 100s of million pound. Now Im not a man u fan and I hate those bastads, but do you guys honestly believe Mancini is the man to win the league? if you do...then fair enough. i just think he's too negative and the way he set up his team, they wont be able to break down teams week in week out. I also dont think he's gonna be able to handle the pressure that your team will receive the moment things are not going well. The whole media is gunning for you and will exaggerate the smallest mistake he does in order to turn the fans against the team. All im saying is your team has never been here and will not cope this season. I think you will finish fourth....will that be good enough?[/quote]

I don't see why there should be doubt about Mancini's abilities Kiiiki - he's won the league 3 times already (with Inter); when Wenger came to Arsenal, he'd only achieved that the once.

There were plenty of doubters about Wenger when he arrived too, but think he proved most people wrong...

we had a hard time taking 6 points off chelsea too & only scored 6 goals, including 4 at their place. we also scored 7 against arsenal in 2 wins at home. you can be equally selective & pick out crap performances against our bogey teams spurs & everton (both twice) but overall city had a decent season. we'll see what the new season brings but every rag i know, and plenty more i don't, are absolutely shitting their pants.

you make some good and fair points kiiiki.............but only time will tell if mancini can gel these players into a team and formation of how he wants them to play.......I believe (or should that be hope) he will

I don't see the media as a significant factor at all.

Mancini can handle the pressure because he's a proven manager - his record speaks for itself. Being manager of Inter isn't pressure? He coped there and managed to win three successive titles after the team hadn't won a title for forty years or something like that.

It remains to be seen whether he can deliver the title in English football but I think he'll finish fourth.

funny how quick things change, man city fans laughing at liverpool after finishing ahead of them for the first time in god knows how many years, I also get the impression some of you are really getting ahead of yourself with how good your team really is. Did you forgot last season after finishing fifth without being able to play any decent fotball, with a manager who is as defensive as they get. I see alot of draws and frusturation for you guys next season

bang on the money.

There also has to be a balance to the side.
Arsenal have flair players all over the pitch, including the defence.
Whenever they come up against a team that are solid at the back and up for it in midfield, they struggle. They play teams off the park with their pretty football but ultuimately fall short becasue they can't defend anywhere near as well as they attack.

Like it or not football has changed since Wenger first came to the PL.
The best "footballing teams" don't always have enough anymore when it really comes down to it.
Mancini, like Mourinho-knows that to win stuff in 2010 you may need to sacrifice a certain amount of flair for pragmatism. You can't do anything if you're scoring 3 and conceeding 4-just ask Mark Hughes.

Or expect to blast every team 4 or 5 nil.

One thing I might add-no side with a defence containing the likes of Almunia will win anything of note anymore.

Sad but true.

True, but we have no more Almunia, Silvestre and Campbell next season and gallas as well. We cant defend to save our lifes and has one of the worst keepers in the league, and we still conceded less than City. We have already signed Koscielny who's better than Vermaleen and a new defender and keeper are on their way. What we have alot of is flair, and you will need alot of that as you will come against defensive sides when you are a top team...our defence has let us down all the time.

But one thing the likes of Wenger, Anchelotti and SAF has in common is they have full control of their teams and no player is bigger than them. City are collecting alot of players that were the man in their previous clubs and now they all have to fight for Mancini, some big players will be on the bench, how will they cope with that. The likes of Tevez, Ade and specielly balotelli if you get him has all had trouble with their previous clubs, can mancini control all of them.

Koscielny from what i have heard from my Arsenal mates is very very lightweight and is worrying a few of them. Even Wenger siad its a gamble

As for Mancini i think he was brought in to be bigger than the players as he has won titles before and was a very very good footballer with alot of respect

Alot of players i feel at City didnt respect Hughes as a manager, obviously he had his taffia friends including Bellers who apparently doesnt get on with Mancini but then Bellers has only ever got on with one manager and that was Hughes
