I might be wrong but I doubt it

For me it was the hat trick at Burnley. For many it was later, but I don’t recall much earlier evidence.
When City won 6-0 at Turf Moor it was almost a year since Shaun Goater had made his debut for City at Valley Parade. How many fans, as we remember the chances that went begging, could honestly claim that they knew all along that Joe Royle had unearthed a diamond?
Similarly, at what point did Danny Tiatto switch from reckless liability to wholehearted professional? Was it the personal shame after his wild haymaker thrown in the general direction of a Reading forward, or was it the two footed lunge that saw Dennis Irwin leave the field on a stretcher in his own Testimonial?
On the other side of the coin I remember the emotional outpouring after City had gained promotion at Ewood Park. It remains one of my favourite seasons, if only for the fact that City won so many games from desperate situations with little time remaining.
The two star performers were undoubtedly Mark Kennedy and the emerging Nicky Weaver. They were firm favourites, yet both players were soon exposed to ridicule and never fully recovered.

How many goals will Edin have to score before he is fully embraced?
Have you ever admitted that you were wrong about a player?

I remember that season like no other. Nicky Weaver and Shaun Goater. I vaguely remember that match, the managers name fails me but he played two keepers for like 10minutes one keeper as a midfielder or striker with the substitute in net.

i think dzeko is accepted as a player there are just bigger names who prove they can score goals who rank in mancini's mind afore him..

personally now Ag is injured i'd play Tevez and Dzeko as Balotelli has his days... but when Balo decides to put a shift in, he's untouchable...

I've yet to admit i was wrong about a player.. i always seem to have fairly accurate judgements.. but i will admit i was incredibly wrong about the judgement i made about Stefan Savic! he was such a shocking player in my eyes!

FEED THE GOAT! FEED THE GOAT! FEED THE GOAT AND HE WILL SCORE!

Tiatto never ceased being a wreckless liability. He just managed to morph into a wholeheartedly wrecklessly professional liability

Yes. At first I thought Charvet was merely "pretty rubbish".

Wonder if Peter Reid ever admitted he'd made a mistake when he didn't sign Ali B for Sunderland and KK snaffled him for us instead?

Tony Coton. I couldn't believe Kendal thought he was better than Dibble.
Coton made his debut and from memory was pretty awful. He then took ill, Dibble deputised vs Villa made a couple of outstanding saves but was dropped for the next game and Coton came back in
Coton then went on to win me over

Niall Quinn, again the Kendal era
Why on earth did we by a lanky Arsenal reserve? Because he was fucking brilliant
Quinn was magnificent for us and scored some absolutely fantastic goals. Also, for a big man his first touch was terrific

Yeah, I was wrong about Stephen Ireland. Thought he would be the future of the club, captain by now, and strutting about the field like Cruyff or Puskas in their pomp.

Yes thats one player i was also wrong about!

I remember an interview with Coton in 442 Magazine just after he signed for City when he claimed that his hardest opponent was the Kippax

-- Tue Sep 04, 2012 3:33 pm --

At what point did people start thinking that Dickov was a decent striker?
Was he ever a decent striker?

I felt the same about Michael Johnson. As graceful as Paul Lake on the ball, thought he would be a world-beater by now. Sadly, he likes the sauce and it's gone very wrong for the lad.

-- Tue Sep 04, 2012 4:35 pm --

Was he ever a decent striker
?

I never, ever rated Dickov. He scored that one (albeit historical, momentous) goal in '99 and lived off it for a decade.
