If we bought Milner for anything more than about £8m-£10m I think we will have made a huge mistake! I really don't rate the guy, he works hard and you can't fault his attitude but i've seen him play numerous times for England and Villa and never seen him do anything special...at all! He scores a few goals yes but thats about it.

I really can't get excited over the prospect of signing him!

Same here. One good season, and about 5 solid seasons don't make a player worth anywhere near £25m, not even when they are English, young and versatile.

I thought Villa paid a lot for him, and in today's market i'd say going on his ability and potential he's probably worth about £15m. We're seriously not going to pick up wins away at the likes of Spurs, Everton, Villa - let alone United, Chelsea (i'm aware we won 4-2), Arsenal and Liverpool with a midfield 3 of Barry, De Jong and Milner. It just won't happen.

-- Tue May 25, 2010 10:42 am --

It's because Carrick was beside him yesterday !!!
But at City he'll have Barry beside him. There's not much difference.

an england international that fabio capello (one of the most successful managers of all time remember) has described as 'the future of english football'.

he is a top player. why do you think chelsea and the rags are also rumoured to be interested?

to challenge the top boys we need a strong SQUAD. milner would be an ideal signing. this is not football manager, we cant just go out and buy anyone we like. yes we need flair players but we need grafters who will work their bollocks off.

i think he would be a fantastic signing, he carried villa for most of last season.

I'm not just going off last nights match, that just reminded me when I saw him! When you look at that England team now it is just filled with average Premiership players, the likes of Milner, Walcott, Huddlestone, Defoe, Dawson, Carragher, Baines.

Milner had to clear up after Carrick's poor passing last night. A lot of school-boy errors like the cross pitch pass that was too low and right in front of your back four with an opposition striker lurking there. Doesn't give confidence in the central midfield.
