I really don't rate Milner!

If we bought Milner for anything more than about £8m-£10m I think we will have made a huge mistake! I really don't rate the guy, he works hard and you can't fault his attitude but i've seen him play numerous times for England and Villa and never seen him do anything special...at all! He scores a few goals yes but thats about it.

I really can't get excited over the prospect of signing him!
i really dont care who you rate...its about who the club rates

I'm underwhelmed by Milner but not greatly concerned. Being linked with players at the moment means very little and I suspect his agent might be touting him around.

Milner's another Barry for me. A good, solid premiership player. I think we've got loads of players at that level. It's the level up we need - the best in the league.

I think City know that. Of course we'll register interest in lots of players to keep our options open. But I think once Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea strat making their moves the picture will become clearer as we are right on the shoulders of these guys in the transfer market.

What I'm saying is let's worry about what Milner would bring to us if he signs.

I agree with being linked means little but actually offcially putting a £20 million bid in would say we quite heavily interested in him

Have to say that i agree with you ......

we can do better if we look hard enough ........

but any Milner signing would probably more about satisfying this 'homegrown player' rule than anything else.

Don't come on a FORUM then where the idea is to air your opinions on all things City just go on the OS and wait until it says we have signed a player!

The question is would you rather have a versatile player like milner who can play anywhere from in behind the striker to full back but is not the mist highly talented or would you rather have angel di maria who only plays on the wings but has undoubted qaulities in his crossing and ability to take on a man.
I think he's a very good footballer but one we could survive without.

Why does it have to be a choice? We could buy a left winger (if the club thinks we need one) and Milner who would give the squad more balance due to his versatility. If we're going to have a 25 man squad then any manager would love to have a player who can do a really decent job in about 6 positions. I'm not saying he is world class or anything like that but I do think he would be a really good signing and would be invaluable over the course of a long season.

He's worth £15m that is what we should have bid and then stuck to it, we need to remember we hold all the cards no matter how much the newspapers try to make out the rags have millions we all know they don't so we need to start acting like the big boys.

But we don't hold all the cards do we because he's a Villa player and he has a couple of years left on his contract. If we want him then we'll have to give in to their demands, to some extent. Unless of course he really kicks off and publicly demands a move, which he probably won't. As if they would accept 3 million more than they paid for him when his reputation has improved so dramatically.

if we do end up paying over 30mill+
i can see why other supporters call city a joke.

I don't think any club will let us have a player for a reasonable price anymore. They will all fleece us. Does that make us a joke or is it just a fact of life when you have loads of money and a club knows you want one of their players? I don't see what alternative we have apart from not signing anyone tbh.
