Turns out they are not interested in football anymore. Was speaking to one today, season ticket holder for years and years, saw them everywhere. I wasn't crowing or anything, just trying to have a general conversation about football ownership and finding out if he had any optimism about united, that kind of thing. I couldn't engage him at all and he ended up scanning his phone pretty quickly. Was probably checking sad cafe for a 'Help, I've been accosted by a Bertie' page.
