Change thread name to still think we will win the fa cup/vans trophy/ europa league/seria A. more chance of that happening

Leceister are actually going to win the league. Fucking hell.

Just goes to show what can be achieved with a capable manager, who can organise and motivate his squad, and get the best out of them.

Everyone involved at this club should hang their heads in shame if we miss out on the league to Leicester. Would be an enormous achievement for them, but an absolutely damning indictment on us, and our manager.

I definitely don't want Spurs winning it, 55 years since their last title and yet some of their fans act as if they're the biggest club in the world on the basis of a few Cup wins.

So seeing as it looks as if we've fucked it up, let's look after our top 4 spot and hope Leicester stick with it.

It's been a poor season all round and if it's looked at without prejudice then of the six clubs that would be expected to make up the top six placings at the end of he season, then only Spuds would have lived up to pre-season expectations. The others, including City, have failed miserably and there has to be some explanation to this general malaise. From our own perspective, whatever team we have fielded has in most games appeared slow and totally knackered and whether this is the result of a permanently lengthy injury list along with a full schedule, not forgetting international fixtures whereby a good number of our squad have to face the inconvenience of transatlantic journeys biting into training time, then it's no great surprise that we are where we are. It's probably fair to say that all our major clubs are facing these same problems which is allowing the little-affected Leicester to capitalise on everyone else's problems.

Surely as City fans we can understand clubs going through vast period of times without winning the league? No idea when I'm defending Spurs so much though.

Yes, if they show a degree of humility about it, but instead they act all "Billy Big Bollocks" based on not a lot - they're not even the most successful club in North London.

Fair play to either Spurs or Leicester really, they've embarrassed all of the so-called "top sides" this season by playing organised football to the best of their ability in order to get some good results while the rest of us flap about. Sure, if either of them win the league from here they'll finish with the lowest amount of league-winning points for nearly twenty years but they'll still have won it. They'll deserve it too - I might even raise a smile for either of them.

As long as we finish in the top four (maybe top three) this season I'll be reasonably content with our overall performance under Pellegrini despite the obvious problems that have no doubt been discussed to death on here since Saturday. He's essentially been a caretaker manager for three years and in that time he's won three major trophies and improved our reputation in Europe. We might also have three consecutive finishes in the top three if things go well from here (as unlikely as that seems) which would make us the only team in England to manage six of those on the bounce since we were taken over.

Right now our first team is under-performing - seriously, twelve points behind - but once Guardiola comes in we'll be able to properly assess our progress since Mancini's departure.

The biggest missed opportunity for a league title ever.

It should have been ours for the taking. . .

Let's just hope we get Top 4!

Think the day we lost De Bruyne is the day we weren't going to win it...we have too many flaws. Bring on next season with pep

We were way off last season too and in the Summer we added De Bruyne, but we lost him for a 1/4 of the season. Delph has pretty much missed the whole season. Sterling has not added much. Only Otamendi worked out and we lost Kompany for half the season. Toure is playing on empty and Silva is playing through the pain barrier. When you stand back and look at it, it's not surprising that we have struggled. We're in transition between teams and managers.

The club that missed out big time was Arsenal.

I can't see City losing Kompany, Aguero, De Bruyne, Nasri and Silva to injury two successive seasons. I don;t think we'll end up with more injuries than teams who have played the same no of games as us, but we lost all our best players. And our best player has lost it. I'm not sure Pellegrini could have done that much, although he should have anticipated Toure' situation.
