I still think we will win the league

No Chance. We'll slip even further behind and just as its about to look like its mathematically impossible to win we will go on a storming run and finish gallant runners up.

How many of you actually want city to fail? It is fkin amazing that fans seem to want us to fail, for what to prove you right? Face it, we have played less than half the season, we're in the right place, even better than ever for the chamions league.... We have actually gotten our bad spelll out of the way hopefully........ Just wind yer fkin necks in and stop hoping we do shite, it honestly feels like there are a load of ten year olds on here who have no sense of bigger picture.

Jeeez xmas is making me fked off

No, come on Leicester.
Please feel free to ram this down my throat at the end of the season : )

Defensively we're relying on one man. And he's made of glass. Offensively we're relying on one man. And he's made of glass. We don't work hard. We can't come from behind. We don't score never mind win away from home. Apart from that we're in a good place to take the title! ;o)

Seriously, this team will lose again this season and probably more than once so I'd say the title is now unlikely. I reckon we'll win against Sunderland but drop points at Leicester. Not sure we'll even take points at Watford the way things are going! Looks like the domestic cups for me and maybe a quarter-final in the CL.

I think to win the title it will take around 15 wins from the last 21 games. That will take some doing the way we are playing.

Our bad spell not only shows no sign of coming to an end, our manager shows no sign of understanding what to do about it other than keep repeating the same old mistakes. It's because we want to win that we want him to go and the players to start playing with some degree of commitment prior to being two goals down.

Christ on a bike! We might as well call it a day and get rid of the campus...

Let's put talk of armageddon off until after the Leicester game and preferably not even then.

Even in defeat tonight that final 30 minutes showed we can do our traditional second half of the season and win this league..

Arsenal didnt look that scary at all they will drop points and fade away and bottle it .. same for leicester they wont last the distance.. we have the pedigree and experience to step up and take control of this league..

It may take a lower number of points to win it so defeats like tonight arent going to hurt us that much.

City at 60-70% can win this league keep the faith and although 5 defeats on paper looks depressing in reality with the way its shaping up we are more than capable..

Merry Christmas to all UP THE BLUES..

If we look at the table this morning Leicester would end the season with 84 points and Arsenal with 80 if both teams were to maintain form until May. Not since 2010-11 would 84 points win the PL and only on two occasions since would 80 points secure the runners up spot. Indeed Arsenal are only doing a bit better than they have done (on average) in the last four seasons. It is City (and other teams) which are doing considerably worse than in past seasons: if City continue at the present rate we will finish the season with 71 points - the same as in May 2011 when we were third! This is much lower than in any season since then. The trouble is the famous "trajectory of results": we started the season with five straight wins but since then have taken only 17 points from 12 matches, which equates to only 54 points in a season. This would have put us 7th in 2010-11 and only 9th last season. It doesn't take a genius to point out that you don't need to do the maths to know that City are playing nowhere near the level required to win the title in any season.

Reasons for some hope are that injuries, suspensions and the conditions of January and February may take their toll on Leicester, whose squad is not the largest and may suffer from battle fatigue. Arsenal are not in scintillating form, or showing us anything they haven't done before. No other team has a squad that matches ours for depth or ability - when we play well. We have suffered our injury crisis and we can hope for fewer problems in that domain. Again this confirms what we already know - if City can select hteir best players regularly and if these players are in anything like their best form their is no gap between us and any other club which cannot be closed and better. But we have to hit form soon and a good festive period would be a major first step. It's still on the cards and I refuse to give up. We are Manchester City and we do fight to the end.

The grounds for optimism are that we were $hit at different times of our 2 title-winning seasons - and in each of the past 4 seasons, we have gone on good runs at some stage. So the chances are we will string together some form - and the way the league is this year, a 10-12 match unbeaten streak will likely vault us back to (or close to) top spot. Also worth noting that notwithstanding Arsenal celebrating like they'd won the Champions League yesterday, all they did was hold serve. They still have to come to the Etihad on May 7 for what truly could be a title decider. And seeing the way they were running around in a panic after Toure scored yesterday, it's a fair bet they will feel mountains of pressure if we are still in touch then.

It's about time we bloody well showed our 'pedigree' then.

Our form, performances, commitment, tactics, structure, game management & lack of leaders will all have to change dramatically to give us any chance.

Lose agin Leicester &we're 10 points behind them !!

You're assuming two things here:
[1] We'll beat Sunderland and Leicester beat Liverpool -OR-
[2] We lose to Sunderland and Leicester lose against Liverpool!

If we play like we have recently then Sunderland IS NOT going to be easy.
In fact the whole team need to pull their collective fingers out - our problems are not just down to Pellegrini.

Us winning the league is going to come down to how many games Kompany and Aguero can play.

Us winning the league simply comes down to how long it takes us to get rid of our inept manager. If we get rid within the next month we should still be able to claw back the gap, anything longer we will of left it too late. Sadly, i don't see him being given the boot until the seasons ended.

A good team is created by the manager so that they are better than the sum of its parts. We are not. If we imagine a scenario where our 11 players all play for 11 different clubs, but came together to play a charity match, they would play no worse than what they are playing for us, despite daily coaching. Therefore we are a poor TEAM. Emphasis on the word TEAM. We have amazing players. But we are a shocking TEAM. We don't play as a team at all. Do I mean shite like Villa will finish above us? No. But in terms of having the structure and organisation of a TEAM, we are equally as bad. The difference is our individual talent puts us way above them. But that has absolutely nothing to do with being a team.

Agreed and the blame lands firmly with pellegrini

Still rather be third with Pellegrini in charge than where Man U are with LVG or Liverpool with Klott, but could do better. If one of those late chances had gone in, would be be miserable? Kompany and Zabaletta nearing returns, Aguero and Silva approaching full fitness. We have to show the same spirit we showed when we beat Borussia, which to some extent we did in the latter stages. Sad for Mangala, can't help feeling we should have kept Denayer in house this time round.

This.

Pellegrini seems like a lovely fella and everything, but he's just inept.

We've hamstrung this season waiting on Pep.

We'll be lucky to win the Carling Cup this season the way we've been playing for the last 2/3 months.
