... Did they do all they could to keep hughes? There is a reason for that and no it's not because the chairman is insane :-)

Well...they did appoint Paul Ince so I wouldn't push the sanity argument too hard

Taken, i'll move on :-)

Great thread btw - makes a change to have a civil argument about Hughes with a bit of banter thrown in

Not saying they wouldn't do well it's just not a given that they will and they will still need a season to find out whats what why not give the guy another year to sort it out?

I'm saying we should set our sights higher than the likes of Brown & Bruce. Yet I regard them as better managers than MH, so I really think we should set our sights higher than him.

Ok cheesy, i'm catching up with you now( i'm tring to respond to everyone and tings keep moving on while im posting!)

These managers you mention, ancelotti et al, I think they would do a good job, agreed? BUT they would have to get rid of all the shit players we have agreed? That could not be done straight away, agreed?

I agree totally that a new manager would have to get rid of a lot of the dead wood. However, I still belive that any of those managers I mentioned would be able to get more out of the squad we have now. You only have to look at the league table to see that for a squad of the quality we have we are under performing. Wigan, West Ham & Fulham are above us in the league. If Stoke win today they are level on points with us. I find that incredible, I really do.

I'll echo that Bob. Good to see it not degenerating in to personal insults.

By the way, Cybergoat... you're a twat ;-)

I agree totally with the first post I have a funny feeling that Hughes will NOT be sacked in the summer. We haven't seen the distance between the senior management in the club and the manager as we did last season with Sven and Frank.

The owner made it clear that this is a long haul project they know we have flirted with going down again and again and therefore know things won't be amazing straight away. True this season has delivered amazing highs and very very bad lows, the league is a lot tighter this year everyone is dropping points no one is running away with the league and no one is really cut adrift at the bottom.

The one player who really gets it for me is Ireland he has been like having a new player this season. I haven't been on this site for long but on facebook there where threads on the Manchester City Fans application calling for Hughes to drop him as he was "useless" at the start of the season. Just a pity not many of the other players "get it" If they did we might have pushed into the top 6. To many of them seem to have the impression " I play for Manchester City where ok is acceptable" NO WE WANT 100% commitment. Hughes had that as a player and demands that as a manager.

Dunne was awful first few months Hughes realised it and brought in an experienced Keeper who Dunne trusted since then there have been signs of improvement. All Hughes signings have looked the part only one I question is Bellamy because of his injury record when he has played he looks the part. As I said lets wait and see what happens late May early June but is seriously think the Hughes haters will be in for a shock

We have better players (I think) but teams like Wigan and Stoke seem to have players who have more pride in their shirt than our lot. This surprises me because I though that a Mark Hughes would at least show some fight.

Cheers, hate it when posters start hurling insults, it petty, we all want city to do well IMO some fans forget just where we are at just because of the money i'm just asking for the summer so he can get shut of the crap! If the new owners see fit to sack one manager after a single season we will end up like chelsea changing all the time and I think it's a dangerous precident

The boo hoo we rich so we should win everything attitude makes me shit! Success will come under Hughes of this i have no doubt!

It's spoken about lots, but I rarely see or read anyone who expects that we should win anything at this stage of our development.

It on every maychday thread "we should be beating this lot" etc etc

I really don't hate him at all. He seems like a decent enough bloke to me. I just don't rate him as a manager.
