Yep, I was at both those games too. Sure we drew Huddersfield in the FA cup too - think it was the same season. I was there John Gidman last minute equaliser ;) Those were the days.... not!

Me, plus my dear late dad.
We just crossed ahead of the Huddersfield fans as they were escorted along Lloyd St. South. We were headed down one of the streets that led to the ground and you could see the TV stuff outside.
'Oh great!' said one of the Huddersfield guys, 'We're on TV!'

I wasn't there but remember well how I got to find out the result....
As the classified scores came up on the TV I had my hand covering the final score, pulled my hand to one side to see they had scored 1 and then moved it across to reveal a 0 for us - turned to my dad to bemoan a defeat and then saw the other 1, stared at the telly in disbelief until they read out the score and confirmed it.
Mental result.

Yeah we did get them in the Cup, went to a 2nd replay at their place and we won 3-1 I think. They also won the return league match 1-0, typically!

My mate was at a student in Sheffield. Me and a few mates had gone over for a weekender. It was the only home match I missed all season!

no I was in my couple of pilgrimages a season phase back then from darn sarf and watching games down there at Palace
I did see us put 6 past Plymouth though in front of the smallest crowd I ever saw at Maine Rd in the joke 'full members' cup competition when back home just after the 10-1 for my birthday. Tony Adcock bagged a hat trick in that game too. I thought he was the dogs bollocks :-)
There are probably more people logged in to BM now than went to that game though lol

Remember Whitey getting the ball, going clean through. The ten was about to happen and the crowd knew it, willing him on, the expectant surge of noise. Whitey rounded the advancing keeper,took the ball a little wide, then shot at an empty net. There was a hush that fell upon the Main Stand as time ran in slowmode. The ball bedded against the back of the net, cue disco.
Special thanks to Adcock, White, Stewart, McNab, May and my Dad in the making of this memeory.
