Ian Mellor RIP

Such sad news, RIP Blue. Saw most of the games Ian played in.

The worst thing about clocking on is people you’ve loved, known or know of pass away in increasing numbers.

One of the saddest parts of life.

I was thinking more about players from his era. Think most of them were before him? Apologies to those I missed out on.
I’m pretty sure I remember all of them at City.

Ian was with us from 1967 to '73, so very much part of the Mercer/Allison era.

AHH shit, another one gone. Rest in peace Spiderman I can still see him scoring against Liverpool at Maine Road.

Ian was a close friend of mine. Playing for City meant the world to him. As did being a grandad of eight, taking great delight in teasing the odd one that turned into a Red. He knew his fate at Christmas but fought bravely till the end, even attending matches until recently. Had a pint with him before the Madrid game days before he went into St Ann’s Hospice. There was no bigger Blue - Denis Law was his hero. A gentle man and so proud of his club and his family. I’ll miss you Spider. Andy Buckley

RIP Spider

A little before my time but was part of the Wednesday resurgence under Big Jack, scored the opening goal in the Boxing Day Massacre
