A fine servant to MCFC and Queen & Country, RIP Mr Niven.

As an ex serving soldier Mr Niven has my deepest respect.
Those Chindits were very fucking tough men, given some impossible tasks which they achieved under Maj Gen Orde WIngate and Slim (One of the most underrated commanders of the 2nd World War).

Too true, they were in effect the jungle part of the SAS. Truly outstanding soldiers.

I knew he had a Pub but couldn’t remember where it was.

Did he have a pub in Marple ?

Yes my Dad took me in when I was 10 and Ian gave me a city badge which I still have !!!
I'm 50 now
