Ian Wright whinging on The Overlap

Might be a radical idea but you could try not listening to it. Why give them the views their words are designed to attract? Falling straight into their trap. Don't listen to it. They don't get the views and you don't have to listen to whatever crap they come out with, all problems solved.

The problem I have with this dick and every other idiot bleating on about the charges is that we have literally been painted as guilty from minute one. No consideration at all (except from us blues) that there could be innocence or that we've been railroaded. Just 'they are guilty, they've cheated, why havent they been punished'.

Its completely bled into the mainstream now due to tits like Wright, Neville, et al. Fuck off.

(I cant even be arsed addressing the fucking billion that arsenal have spent to win fuck all thus far ffs)
That was literally the intention with the 115 charges. Tack on as many charges as possible, doesn't matter if it's the most minor of things. Doesn't matter that they've applied the same charge multiple times over to cover every single year individually instead of 1 collective accusation.

The whole goal was the create as many as possible to present the idea that it's impossible to be innocent of so many accusations. It's a standard tactic that works on the thick, those with little interest in the matter and those who want to believe it regardless. You have to say it's been highly successful.

Cook was supposed to be replying to just Marwood but he accidentally CC’d in the people he mocked.

It was amateurish and his comments were distasteful but Wright is still a **** for going to the press.
Are ok, fair enough. @Prestwich_Blue got it now. I don’t recall that episode.

Correct. It's called a smear campaign. It is as old as homosapiens could speak.

The two families were friends, so he got it directly from the Onuoha family.

Cook only had himself to blame for hitting 'Reply All' instead of just replying directly to Marwood, but it was Wright who leaked it a year later.
Schoolboy error by Cook. But Wright is a twat

I'm not sure how you could forget that but just to be clear, Ned's late mum was acting as his agent and sent an email to Cook & Marwood saying she was ravaged by cancer. Cook then sent a sarcastic reply, but instead of just sending it to Marwood, it went to Dr Onuoha as well. She said she was very upset by it and cried for days, but didn't do anything at the time (which many might think odd, but maybe she didn't want the hassle).

Because Ned, Shauny and their families were friends, she shared it with Ian Wright, but neither did anything at that time and they sat on it. Wright Snr was trying to get SWP an extension but negotiations broke down about a year after that email was sent. At that point Wright went to the media with it, and that (rightfully) was the end for Cook, particularly after he failed to immediately hold his hands up and tried to lie his way out of it. He had to go after that but the whole affair reeked of cynical behaviour from Wright.

I know all this because someone close to the families contacted me and asked for details of someone at the club, as they were unhappy with Wright. They told me the fully story and I passed them on to Vicky Kloss. Funnily enough everything died down quickly after the club realised exactly what had happened.

Never mind the City:Arsenal rivalry. He’s slagging off his own Son’s club there.

Shauny, mate. It’s time to unadopt yourself from the whinging bastard.

Never put anything in writing. Only use public telephones. Good advice from The Cosa Nostra.

Shocking, that.

I have absolutely no sympathy for Cook.

To mock someone who is ill is pathetic, but to mock someone who is terminally ill shows that person up to be of very questionable character.

And to compound it, he sent the email to the very person he was mocking.

There’s no doubt that Cook did some great work for Manchester City, but I don’t want him working for the team I have supported for more than half a century.

Exactly . If they'd got the evidence by they could have just put up a specimen accusation for each supposed breach but they decided to go nuclear . They knew by making it over a hundred it would take years to defend and probably banked on City deciding to cave in to avoid risking any reputational damage . Wrong .

Let’s not forget that Arsenal have had a 107 year stint in the top flight that was completely unearnt.

They finished 5th in the Second Division and, depending on the extent of how much you believe the whole saga; Arsenal, United and Liverpool may have concocted the whole thing between them to keep and get each other in the First Division.

Best mates, Liverpool and United, fixed a game in the league season before (which was 1914-15 due to the Great War) to stop United from getting relegated.

Then after the Great War, it was decided that the First Division was to be expanded for the 1919-20 season. The Top 2 (Derby and Preston) from the 1914-15 Second Division were set to be promoted. But it wasn’t the 3rd nor 4th placed teams who joined them; it was 5th placed Arsenal.

The Chariman of the Football League back then was Liverpool owner, John McKenna. He oversaw a vote on getting Arsenal promoted. With the dodgy game with United, you only have to wonder how dodgy it was that he decided to promote Arsenal. Then consider how Arsenal were found guilty of numerous financial misdemeanours over the next decade, which eventuated in the Arsenal owners, Henry Norris and William Hall, being banned from football for life.

This was the only instance of this ever happening until Watford’s owner was banned in 2018.

While there’s no solid proof that bribes were paid by the Arsenal Chairs for the 1919 promotion, you only have to consider how dodgy Liverpool and McKenna were and how dodgy Arsenal and Norris+Hall were to draw your own conclusions.

They may never have become anything without that dodgy promotion. Before 1919, Arsenal had never won the First Division title and they’d never got to an FA Cup final, never mind won it.

Then, after they got bank loans to build a new stadium (organic? hmm!), and being in the top flight, that allowed them to push on to become a top side by the 1930s.

Every trophy Arsenal have ever won has been undeserved.

Around this era, their players were also part of a performance-enhancing drugs scandal.

Same old Arsenal, always cheating’ is an old chant, and well deserved.

Then look at things like:

George Graham taking bungs, which got him sacked.

Ray Parlour admitting Arsenal paid players off the books (similar to some of City’s charges with Mancini).

Arsenal are not this clean, honourable football club their fans try to portray themselves as with all their ‘organic’ and ‘doing it the right way’ bollocks they’re always banging on about.

Yet, nobody will come out with this in response to Wright.

I used to respect Wrighty, I always used to think he was sound. But he can get fucked after this. Especially, as I said above, with his total disrespect for Shauny, his own adopted Son, being a Club Ambassdor for City.

Every time I engage an arsenal fan on this subject they claim it was a fair vote for them to be allowed in Div 1 (18-5 I believe?), and that they were never found guilty of any bribery related to the vote.

I always reply that for there to be proof of bribery you actually have to do an investigation first, and it appears that this was just brushed under the carpet without an investigation.

The story appears to be that Norris blackmailed, rather than bribed, clubs to vote for Arsenal, threatening to reveal the same sort of financial shenanigans that we got done for in 1904.
