one thing i would NEVER call any of our england cricket commentators is arogant. i dont see a problem with what he said ireland arent fit to lick the boots of india or bangladesh its just a fact.

good day for me today dont know who you had today SKH. hope you didnt have swann i might do alright today !

I will have to just agree to disagree with you there then, Bangladesh were in Belfast for two ODI's last summer, one game each, we played then during the world cup and they won a very tight game, so to suggest that we are not fit to lick their boots means that either you are trying to get me to bite, or you have not been following the world game to any great degree (though with your points scored in the league I can see that this is not entirely true), there are some of the Associate nations that are improving at a great rate, and while it is very welcome to see that the ICC are putting pressure on the top nations to give more games to the leading associates, the proof will be in the pudding and it will be very interesting to see how many games ireland get in the near future.

lol sorry mate i didnt meen to put that i bit myself i de-tract what i said i didnt meen to be that disrespectful. i just follow cricket a lot on sky sports and cant speak highly enough of their coverage and anylsis and just think compared to the football coverage on sky sports its out of its league with the presenters and ex players and the way they commentate the games and kind of felt a bit offended myself when you said that to him. i dont think nasser meant to offend anyone if you look who ever does the after game presentation they always seem to open with the same questions which leads me to believe they are almost told what to ask. sorry to ireland for saying that i am a big ireland fan especailly in football . you are the complete oposite to us. your players arent as well payed and care much much more its refreshing

Apology accepted mate, it is just that as I can only too well looking forward with relish to seeing some of my cricketing heroes come over here about once a season and then see them "go through the motions", to see the leaps and bounds that Cricket Ireland have undergone in the last few years, to se what i consider disparaging remarks that have no substance grates on my nerves, as to if this was a $ky directive or not, I am not sure, but I will continue to follow Cricket Ireland at home and to ge to the real Old Trafford, Lords, the Oval etc when I can afford it (and am not playing, though I have stated my wish to retire from the playing side many times, my clubmates seem to think differently)

But he is right though.

Who else have Ireland beaten so far ?

Not having a go, as you will see by a previous post I think they should be given one day status.

Holland, The Netherlands and The Dutch.

lol

Woke up this morning see the Ireland game was on went out for the paper and a chicken baguette to the local shop get back in and the game was off for another game what a kick to the balls. Just seen the result 2 wins seems a good world cup to me. What does the Lawman think? Could we of done better or what you expected to happen. Hopefully they are able to build on this and get more people involved in grass roots back home but it will be a struggle to compete with the more well known sports be it GAA Games , football , rugby and even boxing.

More or less what i expected this year, I felt that we would beat one of the major teams, compete well agains most of the rest but it would come down to the games against Bangladesh and the Westindies to decide if we would go through or not, and despite getting into very competitive positions in both key games we failed to gain the points required.
However the performance by the team has again shown the ICC that we deserve more games which will increase the profile of the game in ireland leading more people to take up the game, so while disappointed that we couldnt get through I am pleased with the way we have performed on the world stage with Dockrell, Stirling, Porterfield and the O'brien brothers showing great promise for the future of Cricket Ireland.

Simple queston out of the players named there how many of these lads will we be able to hold onto if things dont change regarding test or no test but for the next World Cup. 2 20 year olds who should only get better could lead to them being picked up by England in the future. So thats the hardest thing for Cricket Ireland to loose there best players all the time it makes it harder to compete in the long term you would think.

I think the only real danger would be George Dockrell going on to play test cricket, Stirling is a very very good attacking batsman, but his game is geared more for the 50 over format than the longer 5 day game, the O'Brien brothers would now probably be too old to change allegience to England and the same could be said about Porterfield, and as Ireland now have full ODI status we can make County sides release players for full Ireland internationals against other full member sides, though not against associate sides, so as lon as we get more games against the bigger sides (as has been intimated by the ICC), then we should be able to continue to progress, though the general public need to get onboard for ALL the internationals and not just the visits of England and Australia (though with the number of Ex-pat Indians and Pakistani people now livingin ireland (north and South), games against these countrie if marketed well should sell out.
