Yes I totally agree. Which, is why when the ash covered parts of Europe authorities acted.

All I'm saying is it wasn't some jobs worth in health and safety who closed air space.

There's acted and there's overreacted.

Yep there is. Based on the info I found at the time they acted and I'm glad they did.
What info did you find at the time? Do you have a source?

I have a mate who works as a pilot for Qatar Airways (he has a uniform and everything) and he says they over reacted.

The clue will be in how they react this time. If they don't shut airspace for a fortnight, there's the answer.

Bloody hell - I'm flying Boston - Iceland - Manchester on 4th September....
I'm hoping the flights are okay for next weekend; coming over for the Stoke game.

At least you have the option of a ferry ;)
Just priced that; from €338 to €422, depending on which ferry you get (conventional or ''fast''). Fuck that.

Bloody hell you can get a two week cruise around the Caribbean for that!

Look it up; go to the Irish Ferries site. Going out on the friday night, coming back on the sunday. I've already shelled out €121 for the flights, which probably won't be refunded if the flights go tits up. Add on €78 for the hotel and €60 for the match ticket (£48 for level 2). Expensive 30 or so hours.

The aviation red alert has been lowered, there is no immediate threat of eruption say Icelandic vulcanologists
