Sky news saying the warning level has been raised to red, but that there may be ''minimal'' disruption to flights.

<a class="postlink" href="http://news.sky.com/story/1323602/iceland-raises-volcano-aviation-warning-to-red" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://news.sky.com/story/1323602/icela ... ing-to-red</a>

Fingers crossed as I'm flying over (or hoping to!) for the Stoke game next saturday morning.

I don't think Sky news have any other warning level. It's either a crisis or it's not started happening yet.
We will know we are in trouble when they send Kay Burley over to Iceland

Hopefully she might stay over there.

Just had a txt from a mate over running the Reykjavik marathon today. He's hoping they get an extended stay!

Can they arrange for her to report from inside the crater?

Has it erupted then?

Just means I will be busy at work next week :(
You clean up after eruptions?
Thought you were a teacher?!

Lol I'm a claims manager at a commercial insurance broker it's slightly less boring than selling tea towels (drone)

Can't quite work out whats going on, Magma erupting underground but no ash, but BBC or Sky saying flights over some parts of Icelandic airspace banned, I don't know, just so long as it stays off until 16th Sept when I fly to Crete

I suspect flight disruption is unlikely to be as bad as last time. It was a bit of an overreaction from the authorities at the time, eventually bullied into submission by furious airlines. Volcanoes have erupted on many occasions, but that airspace closure was unprecedented - an elf and safety response.
