iconic City photograph or picture....idea?

Years ago i came across a photo in a book about City, that i thought would make a decent artwork to hang on the wall.

It was of Paul Moulden, dressed in jeans, black leather bomber jacket, adidas trainers etc doing keep-ups in one of the alleys
near Maine Road, with the Main Stand in the background.

I felt it typified everything about City (and going watching City) in the 80's, from the clothes, the memory of nipping down the
alleys to get to the ground, the team being crap and the reliance on youth players etc

Would love to be able to get a copy of the photo now to stick up on my wall, but i've never seen it since and can't even remember
what book it was in.

That photo mate is in a book called City the untold story of a club that went Bananas. It's about the Promotion Season of 1988/89. I have an original copy still.

My Dad went to that match in 1934 against Stoke, aged 10.

The crowd was officially 84,569, and he told me he went there on his bike, leant it against a lampost at Maine Road, (unlocked) and it was there when he got back after the match.

Nowadays the bike and the lampost would have gone........:)

I am moving into my new house next week and there is a room for a big City related picture/photo/image...any ideas?

I though about a Dichov v Gillinham one but theres nothing in /google images

It has to be arty rather than a mugshot of a player

My favourite players are Goater, Kinkladze, Bell and Dichov (v Gillingham)

Thanks in advance
The Dickov knee slide is definitely around, as I've got it on my season ticket.

I'd love the club to put up a few statues around the ground and the Dickov one is certainly one I'd want. For Bert, it would be him walking off the pitch holding his neck and the last would be Aguero waving his shirt around his head. Ideally needs one from Mercer era, but the only one I can think of is Franny showing the ref how an opponent had dived!

Yes I've thought that. Always been one of the things I like about the Emirates how they've done that.

Haha, great post!

People had class back then. Modern society, although better in a number of ways, doesn't have the class of the past.

I've read that although that figure was the official number of tickets sold, there were possibly 95-100000 in attendance that day.

My Nan told me before she died that my Great Grandad who died well before I was born was at that game too.

They have large images around Yankee Stadium of legends and famous pictures:

That was the first season my Dad started taking me to games. The first game was the Paul Lake knock-out/throat blockage game when we beat Leicester at Maine Road.

Some terrible games in the run-in: Blackburn away and the game against Bournemouth at home when we were going up at 3-0 up at HT only for it to go "typical City" on us. Then Bradford away!
