If Garry Cook is guilty of anything...

Excellent post, BC.

Concerning the Kaka/Milan episode, Cook also made disparaging remarks about a perceived lack of ambition on the part of Kaka's father (who acts as his son's agent). This is the same father/agent who has guided his son to true world class stature with one of the planet's most prominent and respected clubs.

The Nike-approved Cook clearly couldn't comprehend the notion that throwing money at someone doesn't makes them yours, or that a player might put concepts like personal happiness and loyalty before cash.

Thanks mate, I know alot on here seem to rate Cook for whatever reason but its good to know I'm not the only one to have doubts about him!

Are there too many layers at the club ?

Owner...Board...Chairman...Chief Exec...Football Administrator...General Secretary...Manager...

And what the f*** is an Executive Leadership Team ?

"Vultures: People running Man City have shown they don't deserve to be involved in English Football!!"

think about that for a minute. he would have been saying 'kaka would have been unhappy at man city'. it may have been clumsily handled, but the message he got out protected city, and avoided criticising the kid himself.

anyway, loyalty my arse, Florintino Perez told him to wait, and he was off like a shot in the summer.

Typical city fans looking for a scapegoat. Hughes hasn't gone because of cook, he has gone because he was inept and because of his own blind loyalty to the pathetic tafia. Don't be naive, Gary cook is not the hirer and firer at city. He may be included in discussions but khaldoon is the decision maker. Some of the fans that have been overseas with city have said cook is a top bloke and a credit to the club. He has branded the stadium, improved the experience for fans. Get over it, Hughes has gone. I am glad and back our owners 100%. Forza city

People make me laugh - always looking for someone to blame.

Look, I was firmly in the Hughes In camp. While the run of results were getting a little out of hand I felt he could deliver us a top 4 place this year.

However, the powers that be have decided that they felt he wasn't the man to do that. So they sacked him and got somebody in who they believe will. That's football.

That we were able to recruit a new manager before sacking Hughes is actually quite professional. If the allegations are true and we had contact with Mancini after the Hull game, then we kept the shit ridiculously quiet. They went competently about their business until the Hiddink thing... which may or may not have been planned.

The argument that Cook should go because Hughes was his man is complete bullshit. Hughes was recruited when our circumstances could not have been any different to what eventually happened to us on the takeover. The qualities we were looking for in a manager pre-Mansour were very different to those post-Mansour. It's not about hypocrisy.

The problem with Cook is the way he goes about things. He is an embarrassment to the club. A bit of decency and integrity costs nothing, and he has neither. Let's not forget that this is the buffoon who suggested that Kaka had bottled it, just because he decided not to join us. Who exactly is he to decide that one of the best footballers in the world is a bottler?

And now he has dragged the good name of the club into the gutter again by the shoddy manner in which he has treated Hughes. Whatever you think of the decision to get rid of him (and I'm in the camp of he deserved the full season at least), you cannot argue that he deserved to be treated better.

You can't argue with the progress the club has made in terms of the marketing of the "City brand", the stadium is much improved, and we've got a squad capable of challenging, but I don't like this "we've got money, so **** anyone who stands in our way" attitude. I would like to see Cook himself kicked out and replaced by someone who commands a little respect.

I'm not sticking up for the guy, but you need to get facts right....He said AC Milan and Berlusconi (spelling) had bottled it, which in all honesty they did because of the upheaval from the fans and a election coming up. I'm also a little surprised at how so many are gullible enough to believe everything the media says.
