If not Torres or Ibra, then who?

Isn't Dzeko just a better version of Santa Cruz? We have never provided Santa Cruz with the type of service he needs (granted, he's been injured an awful lot), and we wont provide Dzeko with the service he needs either. I'd much prefer a mobile, pacy, clinical striker that plays on the shoulder of the last defender, latching onto Tevez through balls and maybe Ozil/Hamsik through balls too. I don't want us to be Aston Villa, with our own version of long balls and John Carew. We are better than that. I don't buy this theory that we need a big guy up top. Tevez would suit playing behind a striker that has excellent movement and pace. Torres would be the dream. A slightly younger Anelka would have been perfect. We need a striker like that, not a Dzeko/Crouch/Carew-type striker.

Dzeko would fit the bill.

We really need someone to get themselves into the box with an aerial theat, someone who won't be put off by defenders.

AJ 90% percent of the time cuts back onto his left which gives the defenders plenty of time to mark their man/zone, so a lot of crosses get cut out. With someone like Dzeko in the team we may win those headers due to his height and build.

Love to see AJ on the left, quality early balls into the box scares defenders to death.

What I have noticed though is we have a worrying lack of players willing to actually get themselves into the box where time has passed for a quick cross. Ade isn't willing enough at times to muscle his way into the box and Barry very rarely gets himself into the box as that extra man causing havoc and creating space. I hope this is due to lack of thought rather than lack of game plan otherwise it won't matter who we have on the wing or in the box, although I trust Mancini to sort it out.

Totally agree. If he's tall, strong and good in the air too, that's a bonus but definitely not the primary requirement.

If no one, i say play 4-5-1 with tevez alone. it does not exist any high quality strikes out there to improve us in my opinion.
Bring Bojnov (or how the fuck he spells his name) back and give him another shot.

Edin Dzeko is a good goalscorer but he is rarely a scorer of great goals. He is excellent with his head in the box and has a habit of being in the right place at the right time. What he won't do is pick up the ball deep, skip past a player and smash it home, his game doesn't really consist of that.

While he is a great poacher, to say he can't create his own chances is daft and makes me wonder how much you have actually seen of him?

IMO Dzeko is easily the best forward outside of the big 3 leagues, and apart from your Torres/Villa/Aguero/etc is one of the best around.

Give him another year or two and you won't be able to buy him for less than 50m

Dzeko would be a great buy but i always thought he would end up at milan. I would be very suprised if we havnt had a good look at him considering how much buying we have done from hamburg.

He has scored over 60 goals in the last 2 years and looks made for the premiership, powerful player who is not afraid to put himself about with a rocket of a shot. Reminds me a bit of shearer.

Milan don't have the money to buy him. Their approaches for him (and Aly Cissokho last summer) are stage managed to appease the fans by making them think they are reinvesting. The deals always get strung out for ages and then collapse conveniently.

Great player though, and the fact that Milan like him so much is a good reference - Galliani might be a grade a twat but he's certainly a good judge of a player.
