If Tevez goes...

This might sound crazy (I'm not even convinced myself) but I think Tevez going will improve us. Despite his goals, which is what is making this sound stupid, his overall play and "ball hogging" really does slow things up sometimes.

I agree with you in the long run, but for this season he remains our talisman so we should use whatever team utilizes his skills to get us into the top 4. Sort the rest out in the summer.
Plus I don't think he should be captain. He can't/refuses to speak English. Vinny or Nige without question, but that is for another thread.

Massively overrated, he'd do well to even get on our bench.

who do you suggest then? personally, i think silva can be our xavi, but we need an iniesta-type player (watching barca right now can you tell? :) ). a faster midfielder who is also creative, but is more willing to take a shot. i think pastore is that, but would love to hear who you think is

Iniesta himself, who else? haha

personally, id rather have a young player who could make his legacy at city instead of spending 50 mill to poach top talent. also, i just cant see any player wanting to leave barca.

but yes, i would love to have iniesta in blue.

Still over-rated?

Yes, do yourself a favour and watch Palermo for a season or two then judge him, rather than judging him on Youtube.

I really dislike the guy; I think he's greedy, he never works for the team (but for himself) and runs around a lot which impresses the fans. I think when he looks back on his career, he will never look at City like a Rosler or Goater would do, despite how much he is worshipped; whereas a Dzeko, Balo or Silva could possibly do so.

However, there's not a better false nine in world football, anything else would be a step down. If we sold him for a high amount of cash, that might be worth it.

As much as I love to watch him and see the goals he scores, I don't think he fits well into our system and is occupying the space where we need a play-maker (who will make goals), so perhaps we'll not miss him as much as we think if a creative midfielder takes his place. Perhaps Michael Johnson will be fit by then?

Tevez reminds me very much of the situation we had when Marsh was introduced. He didn't help us, for all his quality.
Agreed. As you say, he naturally plays deep and doesn't move like a center forward but for what ever reason, be it greed or tactical dementia, he's one of the biggest culprits for slowing down our ball movement in the final third, its the opposite of what you want in his position and means when he's not scoring he often hinders our attacking play. It's been a problem for ages but Bert alluded to it in his quote at the weekend.

If he does go in the summer (and I suspect he will) we'll miss his goals but I think we'll compensate by creating more and better goal scoring opportunities as a team.

he's been consistently excellent this year, surely he'd have to be forgiven for improving and not being nearly as good last year, in his age 20 season, his first in Serie A?
