Most of them had ever been to England before they died.

As for the education system, it has improved no end since WW1 and 2, or even since the 70s. Just an excuse for people with thick kids.

Not from that era myself but i think its plain to see that there has been a lot of change. Now my understanding would be that there was a more "traditional" way of thinking back in that era and a lot of the changes since would not be seen as positive.
 
why would you want to ask the people who died? why not just ask the people who fought in the war who are still alive? is it because its easier to ascribe views to people who can no longer speak for themselves? afterall you dont want to ask the question of someone who can answer in case the answer they give isnt the one you want to hear.
