If the rot continues what happens ?

We sold him because he wanted to go, if he was so great he would have displaced a established player but he wasnt, gundy coming back had nothing to do with

How many times do we have to talk about palmer , he would not be our saviour ffs
Posters are entitled to talk about whatever they want without being lectured by you….thats what forums are for.

Palmer was not given a proper chance by Pep because for whatever reason he didn’t fancy him as a player……at the very least he would be in the team now instead of one of the wide men or even Foden at the moment.

If he’d been given any kind of encouragement by Pep he would have stayed.

We are devoid of the type of creativity that Palmer could have brought to the team.

The fever won't break on its own. We have to break the fever.
One of the consequences of the players we have is that i am not even sure they would get better results sitting back because I don't think the defenders are on the whole solid enough to be under the cosh, they are more mopper uppers and start an attack, plus the dms arel lightweight and we don't really break with pace, so that relatively simple solution is off the table.
Just to have 1 or 2 lads run themselves into the ground would be something surely its time for a slight freshen up not just a repeat of previous weeks.

Ah right. A few reasons:

1. Some key players should be back from injury. Stones, Akanji, Ake, Bobb. Can the current terrible injury record continue for ever?

2. Pep has the time and motivation to make some effective adjustments. He’s hurting badly atm.

3. Pride. In the doldrums now but our guys have a track record of pulling out the stops. And they certainly won’t want to miss out on CL football next year.

4. Possible boost of a good incoming transfer or two, although that’s not a given.

5. Over the whole season we should surely be able to better Forest, Brentford, Bournemouth, Spurs, etc. They are our rivals for the rest of this year, not the dippers, Arsenal or Chelsea.

Nothing guaranteed of course but I’m confident of top 4 (but nothing more).
Fact is, Pep’s a stubborn bugger who won’t change his approach, no matter what.
For many that’s a huge issue and, indeed, it was for me for a couple of weka until one considers that;
the 4-in-row, the Centurians, the Treble and the doubles were achieved precisely because he’s a stubborn bugger who believes in what he’s doing, as do the players, as do both the owners and, mostly, the fans.

Given I thought last season, following Istanbul, would be a bit of a disaster, this season isn’t a huge surprise, in terms of not really challenging for the title, at least.

Like you, I think he’ll sort it out, if not this season, then next, and I’m more than happy to give him that and some.

So, if the rot continues, it continues and we move on next season.

Palmer had an attitude problem. That's why we were happy to take a £40m profit on him.
