I honestly think if we’d have kept those three fit, plus Dias, our problems would be nowhere near what they are now. We’d probably still be right in the title race.Stop the mistakes from the full backs and goalkeeper and we’ve already made a stride forward. I have lost count of the amount of goals we’ve conceded through sloppy full backs.
This means we need Stones, Akanji and probably Ake back. Experienced players that aren’t completely worn out to stabilise the defence and hopefully we can keep them fit
Me too. We’re forgetting that Stones, Akanji and Ake are fantastic players with superb attitudes. With a decent reliable full back that can also step into the midfield ( a certain German who still hasn’t signed a renewed contract) and Stones also helping where necessary and we have greatly improved the defensive solidityI honestly think if we’d have kept those three fit, plus Dias, our problems would be nowhere near what they are now. And on the odd occasions we do break with pace it ends with the breaker having to hold up the ball while the rest catch up. Unless it's though the middle of course, but it very rarely is.One of the consequences of the players we have is that i am not even sure they would get better results sitting back because I don't think the defenders are on the whole solid enough to be under the cosh, they are more mopper uppers and start an attack, plus the dms arel lightweight and we don't really break with pace, so that relatively simple solution is off the table.
Just to have 1 or 2 lads run themselves into the ground would be something surely its time for a slight freshen up not just a repeat of previous weeks.
An attitude of wanting to play and win...
