If the rot continues what happens ?

For the life of me, why didn’t we play Stones as a CB and Gvardiol at LB? Or, if Stones literally can’t play more than 15 mins, then play Simpson-Pusey.

Play players in their position and expect them to perform! It’s great that Pep thinks a player, is a player, is a player, but too many are looking lost on the field.

The quick Rondo-like combinations for which we are known come from knowing where to be and when to be there, but at the moment we have no idea who is going to be where & when right now.

Papers were full of whether Pep has lost the dressing room. I don’t think he has, but it’s hard to know given what’s transpiring on the field.

It’s fine for the senior players to come out and say all the right things, but they’re a big part of the problem! Hard to see how anything but a decent-sized clear our over the next year can change the trajectory.

If we can’t get top 4 that’s going to be a bigger long term problem
Every top club in the country has missed out on top 4 once or twice (or more) over the last 12 seasons (when we've qualified every season)

I don't remember it being disastrous for them and they all bounced back (apart from the Rags)

Took arsenal 5 years

It's like saying without De Bruyne's assists over the last few seasons we wouldn't have won as many trophies. But we had them, and we won them. Now we have Haaland, so his goals help us. Isn't that the game?

Without him, we'd have someone else in his place. They'd likely score goals too.

As it is we're 15 points clear of the relegation zone.
Who? No one else is scoring….

Why not?

It’s happened to loads of teams both recently and throughout football history, not just Chelsea.

It’s actually the norm.
Its not the norm to fall of a cliff form wise. The snugness in our backroom staff congratulating each other after the 40 million off loading of Palmer to Chelsea is one reason for our recent drop off, complacency in the recruitment department. A few years ago we would of been snapping at Madrid's heels for Mbappe these days were asking Wolves for Nunes.

It's one bad season. People need to get a grip.
The frustrating thing is many of us could see this coming for a long time, even last season when we somehow won the league with an ageing and injury prone starting 11 playing rather stale football but just about managing to grind out narrow insipid unconvincing wins.

Someone else...? Who? Alvarez? Gabriel Jesus? Liam Delap? Not a chance.

There aren't many players who could match Haaland's goal rate in a very average City team this season. Certainly none that would have been available last summer, other than the one that Pep and Txiki let go to Chelsea.

We'd probably have 9 or 10 points less if we didn't have Erling Haaland this season.

Has our transfer policy ever to be in for the biggest names in world football? Haaland maybe?
My point is we would of or should of known we needed to freshen up a stale aging squad before it crumbled before our very eyes.I suppose these things happen, great recruiter become shit recruiters. Lets see what the owners answers are because CL is where the money is and a year out is probably the most Mansour and Co would want.
