If the rot continues what happens ?

You totally missed my ‘Sentiment’ people will give up, the Tourists, the half and half scarf crew to name a couple.
Your welcome to your gold star and you can stick it where the sun don’t shine !
I'd settle for a run of bad form every few years if it got rid of half 'n' half scarves, and I'd settle for games without tourists provided their seats were filled with City fans. However the current pricing structure stops some City fans attending and I can't see the club rectifying this any time soon, though that may change if performances or the PL see us in the Championship next season. - All PL clubs have bloody tourists for PL games and it's far worse at CL matches due to the number of fans who turn their back on the competition.

PS. Thanks for the gold star. I've put it in my pocket where the sun don't shine, but I suspect you meant somewhere else.

We have to remember that when Pep first came in we finished 4th the season before and then 3rd in his first season. That was the start of this cycle and now we're at the end. Pep is now back at a similar position to day one. He inherited a spent team which had already been on a 5 year journey since Mancini had first walked in.

There's just nothing in the tank anymore and Neville was 100% correct that they've all now hit a wall where they're giving 90% instead of 110% and that's not enough to win trophies. We usually have a bad period like this every year but usually the strong characters drag us out but this time there's no-one around who can and wants to do it.

We need a rebuild and refresh because the spine of the team is clearly gone or going. Look at Gundogan, he was absolute world class when we won the treble but he went away, came back, and now he's a shadow of what he was.

KDB is out of contract in 6 months so he's not going to give 100% and others like Ederson are probably already on their way out. If it wasn't for the £250k a week then some of them would have gone last year. This isn't anything against those players, they've done more than enough, but we have to face the reality that some haven't got it in them to do it all again.

The second question is whether this is the end of Pep's cycle too, not because he can't do it but because how can we expect him to do it all over again? The guy will always be the greatest manager that we've ever had and he gave us the best seasons that we've ever had. He doesn't deserve this pressure, he deserves a rest and he should be on a golf course.
Great post. No point looking backwards. Nothing will change much now till January when hopefully a couple of incoming transfers will boost everyone plus a few more coming back from injury. We can still challenge for the top four, go deep in the CL, perhaps win a Cup. If we miss out ths season I am convinced we will be strong again next season. I also have great faith in our hard-core fans, especially away from home, who will never give up on the club, no matter how frustrating it is.

If it continues obviously we'll slip out of contention for 4th. We need to buck up up and get some positive results going if we're going to compete with the likes of spurs, Newcastle and Villa. Right now though they are playing far better than us.

Is it possible that the players are aware of the potentially negative outcome of the financial fair play charges?
