If the rot continues what happens ?

Indeed.

This is a ‘down’ season. A season where the squad has taken itself as far as it can and we need a rebuild of it and a refresh.

Pep will get this right and next season he’ll have the team firing again. He’s more than earnt the right to excuse a season like this and the right to be the one who rebuilds.
My thoughts exactly. In fact my advice is relax see what happens, after years of stressing about keep needing to win and hoping this team or that drops some points. That’s where I’m at now, and in many ways really looking forward to see how we rebuild the squad and what Pep does in the next 2 seasons to re energise and set us up for the next few years.

Not sure mate.

To be perfectly honest I didn't think much of the Nunes signing or Kovacic. You could see KdB was broken and had done his best work for us. Although he got the monicker FFS, Mahrez done a great job for us and hasn't been replaced. I'm not going to talk about Palmer or some others we have let go but you could see this season was going to be tough.

We seem to have lost ground with the replacements we've brought in. But I'm sure we'll fix it.
Similar thinking to me in certain ways. Obviously we knew things don't last for ever, but I think a lot of us were quite pragmatic in our expectations. So many factors have come into play, big unforeseen ones being a big issue (Rodri). For me personally I think it's been the nature of this slump that has alarmed so many fans, the cliff edge drop off. Putting injuries aside there's basic mistakes all over the pitch and the entire team is playing poorly. Anyway we're better placed than most looking forward. Cheers.

It’s certainly a down season but we should attempt to part address it now and not wait until next season to then do another season of transition etc… I really hope and expect that the powers that be are accelerating their planning to January and we look at the Academy for the cup competitions to see who has the potential to make the step up.

If we are going to keep playing the comically high line we really need fast athletes in this team because at the minute our midfield and defenders are turning like oil tankers once we lose possession. We all must be sick to death of watching us concede the same goal over and over. I’m at a loss as to why we are keeping on at it when we dont have the personnel to do it.

And it might get even worse before it gets better this season. So those already moaning, prepare yourselves!

But a decent midfield signing in January, players who’ve come back from injury getting themselves fitter, players getting through this slump and getting back into form, and there’s no reason why we can’t mount a challenge to finish fourth.

Besides, there are more important things going on this season than the team, its performances and results.

We could win every game from Boxing Day until the end of the season, finish 2nd, and then have 40 points docked from the PL case or be expelled from the PL.
The #1 most important thing this season is beating that case. If we do, it’ll breathe fresh life into the club. It’ll be bigger than the Centurions, Fourmidables, treble and four-in-a-row achievements combined for this club. It will be as big as the takeover in 2008.

Lots of similarities between this season and Pep's first, at least on the pitch. Square pegs in round holes essentially. The reason off it may be different but hopefully the cure is the same and Pep is the guy to lead the charge.

New blood, renewed appetite to win, but a stuttering season to endure first. I'd take top four now.

And what are you going to do ? Go and support the next successful club ?

I don't need to do anything - it's not sustainable and the environment will become so toxic that change is going to be inevitable.

The idea that you can ride out the storm is fanciful - Pep isn't surviving if our next 12 games also have 1 win.

We can not go on like this. This will not end with a season out of the top 4. We are in the biggest tail spin I've ever seen from any professional sports team in my life.

the input from our winger is mindblowing this season. Grealish, Bernardo, Doku, Savinho, the combined output from them is less than what Saka or Salah doing alone. how can Salah at age 33 outperform them so much?

they create fuck all, score even less.

That's not a fair comparison Saka and particularly Salah has the freedom to run at defenders. Our wingers are up against a lower block with no room to work.
