When will our first champions league game be? and do we go straight into the group stages? and do we get seeded?

Straight into the groups. Bang tidy.
Will be unlikely to be seeded but that makes for a better array of fixtures.
All I care about is finishing 3rd and missing that massive banana skin of a qualifier. If we get into a group directly but it has some of Europes elite in it, its then up to us to match it. If we finished 4th and drew some no-mark team out in the outbacks of Russia, it's just like us to fall at that hurdle. 3rd is a necessity for me, which i've said all along and it now looks likely we will do it. Can't wait for the draw.

But yes - we would go straight into the group stages. Don't think they've announced the dates yet but the first group games will be mid-September. All clubs are seeded into one of the four pots depending on their UEFA coefficient. I don't know the coefficients but I reckon we'll be third pot.
Edit: We're currently in 36th place (it's based on performance in previous tournaments so we don't have many points). Might even be 4th pot but it depends on who else is in there after all the qualifying rounds.
The first group game would be on either September 13 or 14.

It can be quite difficult sorting travel out for the first group game if it's away.
Last season, we had two weeks to sort out Valencia, but I knew some cheap routes beforehand and was able to book flights there, and to Bursa, as soon as the fixtures came out (which is about four hours after the draw on August 25).

If we're 4th then games on 16/17th and 23/24th August, draw on 5th August.

If City finish third they will play one of five teams from Pot 1, one of seven from Pot 2 and one of seven from Pot 4.

I wouldn't call the likes of Rubin Kazan 'no marks'.
