I'm fed up of this old fashioned sense of British fairplay that says our lads shouldn't dive or roll around when fouled or harangue the referee

It puts us at a huge disadvantage.

Barca are no different to many European sides, the merest contact invites collapse.

Tonight Yaya was denied two real opportunities to surge forward as Xavi and Iniesta crumpled to the floor and the ref bought it.

Zaba, when upended by Iniesta, gestured to the ref not to book him. This favour was not returned by the little Spaniard.

In Europe at least let's go the whole hog and dive at will, show imaginary cards to encourage bookings and roll around when fouled

No point, our league is one of the best in the world for eliminating gamesmanship. Spanish and Italian clubs are victims of their own shit leagues that never grew up and dealt with this issue seriously. This of course impacts on other nations where this is rare, particularly Germany and England.

UEFA should just grow a pair of bollocks and tell the refs to stop being soft bastards and to SEVERELY punish simulation of any kind on either side. Of course that would never happen owing to the fact that Platini himself is a product of Continental Football so is a diver at heart, he'd hate to punish his own.

I'd say it's more the Spanish sides but they've been at it for years, just have too look at the recent Barca vs Real games to see what a joke they've become and fuck joining them, game is turning into a non-contact pussy affair.

I'd rather let my bird shag Gary Neville than become cheating pansies. (I'm actually single, don't know what I'm on about !)

If we started to become like that I'd probably sack this sport off for good.

Kind of agree...posted this in the post match thread...

We really need to wise up in Europe. We are like country rubes with cheap shoes getting fleeced 5 mins after getting off the bus in the big city.

First off there is zero point bumping people off the ball and conceding fouls and picking up yellow cards. Ok get a bit physical for the first 5 mins and see what the ref is like and then figure out he's a soft twat and wise up.

Red cards. Much as Zabs made me chuckle its effing pointless playing CL games with 10 men. Yes we should have had a pen. So maybe should Barca. Difference? They didn't go medieval on the ref's ass and get a man sent off. Protest sure but up to a point.

Lastly - and this is just my impression - but we seem to play to win the match whereas Barca played to win the tie over two legs. First leg they would have been happy with 0-0 anything else was a bonus. Second leg was even but they were happy it was even. Kompany said we left everything out there. Barca played within themselves. We end up shagged out with a game in 48 hours. Barca played the percentages. We need to be cuter. If we are learning that then fine. If not then this shit will keep happening. As I said just my overriding impression

I know it sounds wrong considering he didn't give Barca a pen early on but in general play he gave Barca pretty much everything and was quick to book our players. Stupid shit like giving them a freekick when Yaya nicks the ball, it's just so fucking frustrating. Doesn't help either that Barca players act like privileged little shits expecting fouls and cards constantly
