If you were on the dole would you pick fruit ?

We've picked our own over summer, now we're into autumn and less keen on picking wild berries although I see plenty on our walks, I just can't get the feeling out of my head that some dog has pissed on them.
Seems short sighted to have made lower paying jobs unattractive and waste so much, is there scope for a 'pick your own' type scheme? We have a few near us, pick your own fruit and pay for the privilege also.

If it was me I would pick fruit in waitrose is better quality than asda and not so far for me to leg it home ;)

If I was on the dole I'd probably pick a can of Monster over any kind of fruit tbf.

Ok you pay your extra taxes to feed and house the detainees to allow those on the double dole to continue and you still can whinge as you did with your starting post.

Long long ago it would have been the "poorer" city dwellers who travelled out the the countryside to pick the fruit/hops/crops. It was a regular thing but with more jobs, better standard of living...and maybe laziness people just slowly stopped doing it.
Why do what is hard manual labour when you can get similar (possibly better money) more easily...or just sit on your arse getting benefits.
Rather than paying them "dole" use the money to pay for shuttle busses to take the unemployed out to the farms to do their days work for the farmer to pay them. Surely that would save the government some cash.
You don't turn up...you don't get your dole.
