I did think the attendance was pretty poor. Yes the ticket price had increased from the FC Copenhagen game which, in my opinion, was a mistake by City and yes Aalborg weren't the most attractive of opposition to your 'average' fan but it's the UEFA Cup for fucks sake, how often in most fans lifetime have we been in this competition? I was born in 1977 and was too young when we legitimately qualified in my lifetime. So all I've had is 'fair play' qualification to enjoy. We get into these competitions so rarely I do find it hard to comprehend when tens of thousands of people feel they can't be bothered to turn up.
IF we get past Aalborg the Quarter Finals will be on the 9th and 16th April. I'm praying for an away draw first because I'm at a Terrorvision concert on the 9th (I know, piss poor planning on my part) and I'll be absolutely gutted if I have to miss the home leg.
We spend all season fighting to try and qualify for these types of European matches and then, once we're in them, huge numbers of fans don't actually seem all that bothered. It does rankle me I have to admit.
