Sorry to add to this debate but i need to get it off my chest as well. It is an absolute embarrasment 24k. I came home to all my in laws who are Evertonians and they are always asking where are our fans on European nights, they were selling out Goodison this time last year in the UEFA Cup. This Credit Crunch excuse has run its course now, if we get to the Semi's there will be an extra 20k who suddenly turn up in these hard up days. I for one have been driving back from work all over the country to see these games. The UEFA Cup excites me and its all we have left to play for regarding cups. The team needs us behind them BUT then again the 24k who were there last night did us proud especially block 110 getting the atmosphere going right through the game.

RANT OVER

Yes, the credit crunch excuse is over, my job has magically re-appeared and all is well. Is it bollocks. Yes, I will try and go to a Semi- Final, and possibly the Final, if we get through, but have to sacrifice other things to get there, last night's game being one of them.
Why shouldn't I? Had season ticket since 83, went home and away for many, many years, dark days of Div 2 etc. Now times are hard, no job, and got grown up responsibilities to boot. Can do without arseholes on here slagging me off as not a true supporter cos I missed a game, ffs.
If you have driven from 'all over the country' to get to game, and can afford to, great, you are lucky to be able to do so. Can't you just be happy that you can, instead of being smug about it, and slagging those of us simply not in a position to attend every single game anymore?

Get a grip.

I think the point people are trying to make is that the majority that didnt turn up last night, would have been willing to pay for a ticket if it was a Premiership game. Obviously there are a lot of people like yourself who have genuine reasons or kids etc. Everyone seems to say its the credit crunch's fault, I wonder how many that didnt go have actually been affected at all by it

and the sense of humour is to then come on the message board and trumpet that fellow blues are not worthy??

I think his bezzie mate Joe Hart put him up to it....

All that frustration from having to play in the reserves...;- )

I haven't scrolled through every page of this topic, so apologies if....

I don't think individual accounts of why someone didn't go to last night's game, or any other game for that matter, are the issue here. There will always have been occasions over the years where most of us have missed games for personal reasons.

One of the problems now is that we don't seem to have as big a core support as we all thought was there when 30000 were going 10 years ago. Another is that a bigger percentage of those core fans are choosing, fairly often, not to go. It's hard to believe that we're in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup and the stadium is not rocking for a midweek night game.

I think our support will build up again but a lot of fans got fed up with city 2 or 3 years ago (esp the last half-season of SP's reign) and got out of the habit of going. I know we've been rubbish for long periods before, but there was genuine optimism then that times were changing. Things are moving on now but it's hard to get back into a routine once stopped. TV, Thursday and Sunday fixtures etc of course don't help.

To those who went to the match - I'm proud of you.

To those who were unable to for whatever reason (like myself) - I feel for you.

To those who were able to, but couldnt be bothered - I'm dissapointed in you.

I think there will be very few of the latter.

thats what the song was aimed at, poor show that some fans didnt get that

who said city fans have got a sense of humour?

Mate, in a time when everyone, and I mean everyone, is willing us to fail, I find it incredible that after a victory you come on here and start a thread like this. IMO, it's sad and smacks of attention seeking...

BTW...you think Rafa will give Neds a game on Saturday against the rags....;- )

sad? everyone laughed at the song.

"if your watching on the tele your a cnut"

and

"where the fuck are all our fans" lifted the atmosphere and were tongue in cheek. there were other threads about the attendance, not just this one.

24k was embarrassing and thats all the song was funny (to those who could be arsed going), thats all the OP stated. Been quite funny/sad though, all the 'blues' justifying themselves to someone on an internet board

Does this apply to me? Hope not cos it would cost me a fookin fortune to fly over for all the matches. However, I try and get to some when I come over.

oh and also, before you say ive been 'slagging blues', there have been some fuckwits on this thread WHO DIDNT GO, slagging those who went. unbelievable

now you really are trying to take the piss mate....whats sad or funny about making other people feel below you....you really are a pompous git

I didn't go last night, and yeah, i couldn't be arsed. Finish work at half 6, go to the game. get a bus back into town, then another 2 buses back to my house. would have cost me a fortune, and ended with me not getting home until at least half 11, so in my opinion, wasn't worth it for me last night. Sorry to everyone who's a better fan than me.

What's wrong with that? As stated before seem people need to choose which games to attend.

If you haven't been affected then you haven't bought a house, don't have kids, have a very secure job, and are one very lucky person.
