IFAB plans to end time-wasting.

About time they did something, mind you if the ref used their exsisting powers to book every time waster we would be half way there already

When these measures are brought in, does that mean the booking for time wasting does not apply anymore?

The thing is, there are always existing laws to deal with these things, but the moment anyone suggests the referee enforces any of them, there are howls of outrage. It's the same as dissent - if you tried what the pros get away with on a Sunday morning, you'd spend half your life on the sidelines and paying fines.

No backchat to the ref is easy to enforce. You'd have one week of sides down to 8 players and then they'd learn. Same with time-wasting. Book someone for it in the first minute, then send them off 10 minutes later and before you know it everyone would be scurrying around to get the ball back in play.

But they never will. So they come up with a "plan".

Just book offenders the first time and they won't do it again. It really is that simple.

Referees allowing players to do it until the 80th minute on is ridiculous and not some weird "law".

We all know refs don't book keepers for time wasting until the 89th minute
Look at that whistling wanker from Bolton last Saturday. The first goal kick Brighton had and the keeper took an age to prepare himself for it. What did Mason do! Looked at the ground in the centre circle whist standing behind two players and waved an arm, which sadly is what all referees do, until the 89th minute when they may show a card, or have a word which wastes even more time that they never add on

We've had discussions on this before on Bluemoon and there's been some good suggestions
Go back to the old law of the goal kick is taken from the side of the goal where the ball went out of play
Time limit for a team to take a goal kick or free kick from inside their own penalty area.
Time limit for throw ins.
Time limit for corners
Don't stop the game for substitutions
Just implementing these will make a hell of a difference

Correct.

Really easy. Basketball have been using it for years. Decide how long each half will be, for the sake of argument 25 mins viewable . Timekeeper, not the referee, stops clock every time the ref blows the whistle, starts the clock again when the ball is touched by a player in the field of play. Not difficult, it has all been done before.

Games would last over 2 hrs. we'd have people leaving at 47mins of the stadium clock
Once the players realise that they've still got to play for the remainder of the 90 minutes, they'll soon stop time wasting, as it's their own time. It's not difficult, as several other sports stop the clock where necessary when the ball is dead. Football is no different to other sports in that respect.
If people want to leave at 47 minutes - bye!!

The quicker they bring it in,the better.
