IFAB plans to end time-wasting.

brighton had it to fine art, every throw in player A made it look like he was going to take it to then leave it or roll it to player B he then needed time to set up. book'em ref early doors job sorted

An easy way to speed things up is for the substitute coming on not having to wait for the player he’s replacing to leave the pitch before he can enter it.

As soon as the game stops the sub comes on. Play then resumes in 20 seconds come what may - if the player coming on isn’t in position, tough shit.
So you can have 12 players on the pitch?

Wenger had it right when he said fans didn't deserve teams time wasting, we pay money to watch a football match. Not some nob head tying his shoe laces for 10 minutes

Tell you what fucks me right off.

Keepers catching a ball and then taking 20-30 seconds before kicking it out of their hands when it’s a law of the game that they have six seconds.

It’s already a law and I’ve NEVER seen a ref blow on it. If they can’t follow through on existing laws then what’s the fucking point?

I'll tell you what boils my piss. When keepers easily catch the ball and then purposely drop on the ground with the ball under their chest. Yellow fucking card.
Same for twats that go and pick up the ball for a throw in then drop it on the ground and walk away. Yellow fucking card.

Ridiculous, but no reason why - how ironic.
Sorry I’ve taken so long to reply to this. Not had the concentration span available these last three days, but your response deserves an answer, so I’ve been meaning to reply. Apologies it took so long.

Since the modern game was conceived at the point in time when human ingenuity went apeshit, it has been subject to change; the offside law being the apotheosis. It is unrecognisable from what subsisted in the 19th century.

Crossbars didn’t lawfully exist in the game at one point ffs. What sport is that perfect that it can’t be improved? People have always claimed the game is perfect as it was. Were they all wrong?

Any sport that doesn’t evolve will eventually die.

About time, the refs have been fucking useless at enforcing the law so something has to be done instead. Grinds my gears that the ref doesn't get his cards out until 80+mins.

When Jose came over he made everyone master the art of time wasting. I remember Chelsea coming to the lane and sitting on an early 1-0 lead. Every throw, goal kick, corner, freekick would be a minimum of 1 minute to do.
We do it too, nobody will admit it, but in a recent close game, there was a stoppage, and we somehow got the ball back to Ederson, who picked it up and blasted it to row Z, referee didn't notice, so no action taken, he did similar last season a couple of times.

Its not ideal, but the amount of times we get large chunks of time wasted against us, when we are level or behind, and never get it back, I don't blame our players for doing it back when we get a late goal.

If they are to make sure that 30 minutes each half is actually played, then great, it won't cut it out entirely, but it will ensure that a fair amount of time is played. If it does reduce the time wasted, then they can always make it 35 in the future. We attend to watch football, not watch people roll about, or walk slowly off the pitch, the more football I see the better.

Taking the ball to the corner flag in the last minute - is that not time wasting or is that an acceptable face of time wasting?
Its all a part of the rich tapestry of football.
If the ball is in play, its up to the other team to do something about it, that is very different from the manager that tells and then sends the player coming off, to the furthest part of the pitch before he's subbed, and he then "jogs" at tortoise pace to the line. Then there's the feigning injury to get the game stopped, some of it can be stopped easily, some of it can't, so give the game a set "in play" time and work from there.
