The big plus with Ilkay is the 'when Gundogan loses the ball you have to down your drinks' game gets everyone fucking leathered.

I wish Pep had held his nerve and played him from the start. Fernando looked lost out there.

Have you read anything on http://spielverlagerung.com/?

I think not.

Dude!

Either you're a total fucking idiot (quite likely) or you simply have a huge difference of opinion with just about everyone who knows the first thing about football.

Me - I'm smarter than the average bear - but I'm no football genious. I read quite a lot of football tactics to figure out what's going on, on the pitch. This has lead to a greater enjoyment of the game for me.

You... you have bizzare opionions on a large swath of footballing tactics/stragies.

It's to the point where whatever you say is almost certainly wrong more than half the time.

Read up I say. At least evaluate what the knowledgeable pundits are saying - your own gut feelings about how we should play are so far off the mark that you're making a laughing stock of yourself - and, unfortunately of other Americans like me.
=============
So here's my challenge - read the articles on http://spielverlagerung.com/ and get back to me on where you think they're wrong.

And then let me know why it's a great idea to play Gundogan as our lone pivot and Fernandinho as one of our 8's. Jesus Christ this is so fucking stupid.

As an indicator of how wrong this is... it's not far worse than avocating Zaba in goal and Bravo as our striker. In fact the Zaba in goal/Bravo striker combination would likely work better.
Judging Gundogan on the Celtic game isn't fair as he's still not fit. He used to be Dortmund's engine, the same way as Dinho was for us. Dinho is a much better defender than Gundogan there's no argument there, but with Gundogan we can keep the ball better and have more possession and have to defend less often. Defensively he's no Dinho but he's alright on his own. Busquets is the prototypical Pep pivote but it's not like he's super amazing defensively. I'd say Dinho is even better than him defensively. But what Busquets can do is keep the ball and circulate the ball under pressure. I believe Gundogan can play like a poor man's Busquets at the very least.

Offensively however I don't think Dinho is good enough to be an '8', he lacks the final ball delivery and the offensive instincts for that role.

So in conclusion:
Dinho is a 6
Gundogan can be a 6 or an 8
Aleix Garcia can be a 6 or an 8

Even if we use this game alone as proof, Dihno's vision is grossly underrated. What he lacks in technical touch, he makes up for in vision and share Athletism. The pass to Aguero do that shot that hit the bar was Silvaesque.

Dihno was an 8 in Russia. And continues to show vision and better ability to break into the box than either Silva or Gundogan. The notion that he can't be a good 8 coz he doesn't have the feet of Silva or Gundogan is misplaced in my opinion.

What he has, speed, Athletism, better shooting and an underrated vision makes him a fantastic 8 in the mold of Vidal or the Turkish German.

That pass was great but I just don't see Dinho making a lot of those through balls to Aguero that Kev and Silva do on a consistent basis. Our 8s need that final ball delivery, otherwise we'll just end up with a lot of possession and no end result. It's no coincidence that our form started to peak when Kev started to pick up his form as well.

Still looks a bit rusty, unsurprisingly, but we looked better as a team after he came on.

Needs more game time. Late in the game inside their half, he had a simple pass to Kolarov, but he somehow put it a yard to Kolarov's right and we ended up going all the way back to Bravo.

so i didnt know much about Gundogan before we signed him, can someone tell me what he is? defensive mid? attacking mid? deep lying playmaker? genuine qu
