Ilkay Gundogan - 2017/18 performances

He looks like he truly belongs in our side when our opponents sit back. Unfortunately he doesn’t seem to be able to adapt like De Bruyne & Silva when we are faced against a more energetic side with greater quality.

That game today is Gundogan in a nutshell. Comes alive around the opposition box but has no interest around our box. Look at their 1st goal, loses Herrera and lets Pogba run off the back of him. An absolute chancer.

Pep likes him because he is skillful and can circulate the ball - except too often it is tika taka for its own sake with no penetration or final product. A lack of mobility off the ball compounds the problem.

He slows the game down, puts players out of position and lacks the level of drive, energy and threat of his team mates. He must have the worst results per start of any of our players and no accident he was subbed against Liverpool and United. He scored a great goal today but went missing too many times.

The problem is he does not fit in our system and his weaknesses make others look bad. We get exposed and we concede goals. He is a good player who reminds me of Ozil but I would llike to see him elsewhere.

Injuries has played a part but I don't see Gundo becoming a major part in this team. Which is frustrating as when in top form he is a top quality player and does fit in what style trying to play

I'm fine with your having posted that twice maybe to drive the point home better or maybe it was an error but surely I don't think I'm the only one tired of seeing Gundogan in our starting elevens. I'm tired! I'd sooner try Bernado there to see what he can do.

Would swap him for Nasri in a heartbeat.

Why? because it was pointless swapping them to begin with.

Exact same player. Goes missing when he feels like it.
