True, but most of the comments haven't been about his first half performance; more the general idea that he's not good enough. I think he takes a few too many risks, but he's been very unlucky for me sometimes as a lot of the very clever passes he's picked out amongst that group have just been off slightly. I still remember a corker of a ball he played down the line against Burnley that gives me hope.
I think that a lot stems from the fact that for me he's still got a bit of that Klopp era Dortmund DNA in him that needs wringing out (attack with pace 1st, think later). You can really see that when he keeps looking for the super fast one touch give and go on the edge of the area but he needs to realise that he's not got Reus, Gotze and Lewandowski who were all trained to play that way alongside him.
He ought to take a leaf out of Silva's book and relax a bit. Many times I've seen Silva deliberately slow down an attack/counter attack because he knew it wasn't the right moment (Whereas you see with a Klopp side they go for it anyway).
He's also had a lot to overcome in the last 18 months, which can't be easy. But I strongly believe he'll show his value for us, and I believe his positioning and off the ball intelligence will springboard him to future success once he gets his mind back in the game fully. Plus I reckon he's the closest to Yaya in terms of being a midfield metronome, which isn't necessarily what we need but it still has its merits.
