I felt he was about 2% away from having one of the best games I've seen for a City player in years.

So many little flicks, 1-2's or last passes were *just*, just stopped with a nick from a Burnley player, if even 30% of them had come good then we'd have won by a mile.

It's just hard to tell if he'll get that extra few percent back from playing more, or if it's gone permanently post injuries. I think it's the former, but I guess we won't know until he gets a proper run in the side which won't happen any time soon.

He is almost there.

Two or three times he had opportunities to shoot but wanted to pass or take an extra touch, yes his general build-up play was good but as an earlier poster said his decisions in and around the box were poor.

He was everywhere yesterday, picking balls up from the defence and starting attacks or trying to finish things off in the box. But almost nothing came off for him. He was visibly very frustrated with himself

Finally watched the game. Magnificent up until the 60th minute and surely this time the reason we didn't win wasn't that we missed Silva, at last. He kept our game flowing, but shame about those final passes and finishes indeed...

That’s a good post and I pretty much agree with you Dom. There’s been talk about how our team has too many ‘nice’ guys in it for years and he’s as nice as they come. I’m wondering if he lacks that mental toughness and or killer instinct. Certainly seems like it to me. That’s a very important trait for me personally but I probably slightly overrate that and it’s definetly the ‘American tough sports guy’ in me coming out. Is that archaic thinking? It might be a little bit..but the value is astronomical if you have it in abundance with the talent (think Suarez, D Costa, Vidal Radja Sanchez).

@Dax777 curious what dax thinks on this

Niceness doesn’t come into the ability to make the final pass. You can’t get a nicer player than Kev or David and it doesn’t seem to adversely impact their game. Really not sure where you are coming from.

Yeah, I'm on the other side of the issue. It's the talent of the Radja, Vidal and Sanchez of the world that I love, not their tough guy act. Also I consider intensity a talent. And all the guys you mentioned have it. But so does Debryune. Yet no one thinks of himas a tough guy even though he is as intense as the best of them.
