I swear I've seen comments making the opposite of this claim. He always do well when playing as DM.
Perhaps he just does well sometimes regardless of position.

Oh just stop! You'll give @FantasyIreland an aneurysm with comments like this :)He's been our best midfielder since start if year
Hope so.I think we’re lucky to have him, given he’s not normally first choice. Player of that quality as a ‘back-up’ is incredible. Also think there’s a slim chance he could push on from here. Maybe it’s taken this long to get back (mentally as well as physically) from that horrific injury. Saw encouraging signs on Sunday.

I felt he was anonymous for much of the first half, and looked much more comfortable further up the pitch.
His dinked pass for our second goal was sublime.

so we beat arsenal and because they are a good team then that's why gundo played well, v burton and people were saying of course he played well he only plays well against shite teams , bluemoon really is full of shite.Of course he played well, it was Arsenal.
Play him against a shite team and he won't bother. That's the issue.
Talent isn't, he's clearly got it.
The problem with Gundogan in our squad is that he isn't good as the sole defensive midfielder - that's not his forte. Against Arsenal, he was played at his best position - as a deeper lying sort of DM sort of AM with someone else (Fernandinho) assigned the primary DM role.so we beat arsenal and because they are a good team then that's why gundo played well, v burton and people were saying of course he played well he only plays well against shite teams , bluemoon really is full of shite.
