Ilkay Gundogan - 2018/19 performances

Thought he was great yesterday. Very solid and had more aggression in winning the ball back.

He also made a couple of nice late runs into the box but wasn't picked out.

Thought he was great today, a bit sharper & much better out of possession. Tracked a fair way down the wing to get in front of the play on one occasion & cleaned up nicely in partnership with Fern on others

If he could reproduce that v decent teams I'd be very happy with him as an option.
Perhaps it's due to him being injury free and able to complete a pre season people are quick to criticise Gundogan but forget he's had major injuries
He will be good this year

As i said in the match thread,he's great when we dominate and are dictating play, his problems surface when we're under the cosh and he becomes far less influential.

I recon he had 'the word' from Pep.

What I feared was permanent lack of mobility v Arsenal, may actually just be laziness.

Looked at replays of the two games & his effort to get the ball back, v Huddersfield, is double what it was v Arsenal; sprinting rather than jogging.

I was hoping to see that v Arsenal, after Pep's buildup prior to the game, but he was loafing around.

He was really sharp v Huddersfield & looked like the player we signed, who gets to the ball first.
