Iman Beney - New signing

Looks like you've spelt her name wrong in the thread title, unless I'm missing something?

Good to see she's already done her ACL, so hopefully won't happen again now she's here :-)

Does this mean the club isn't interested in having Poppy Pritchard in the women's team?

I'm not exactly sure what to make of this quote but it doesn't inspire confidence in me.

"They are a club who like to keep possession, and I really like to have the ball, so I think it's a good fit."

I thought the same - where does this leave Poppy?

I'll hold judgement to see whether she features for the Swiss at the Euros; but at the moment it looks like it's another for the "one for the future" pile.

Watched her for the Swiss v Norway. She more or less played right-wing back, but had the energy to get upfield for a couple of half-chances and was unlucky not to score. She doesn't look all that tricky, but seems to have good movement. She can probably be cover for right-back as well as right-wing, though I think it's too early for her to displace anyone in the starting lineup just yet.

This post is a bit of a dense read but it does suggest that there could be a change of formation under Jeglertz and a new role in particular for the wide players. Feels like a role that might suit Beney.

Like you say though, at 18 and with Casparij clearly settled and having signed an extension can't see her being displaced immediately. Obvs there's Shimizu too although I've read she can also do a job at DM.

Hadn't heard about Jeglertz. A quick Wiki search shows he's very experienced at least. Clearly done well in Scandinavia, but the WSL will be new for him, it'll be interesting to see how he adapts and if his approach changes with different players available to select.

Got to be better than last season though surely.....

Yeah his track record is fairly impressive but also the game has changed a lot since he won the champs league.

That said, he has heaps of experience in the women's game and you'd assume that's where he wants to be. It's a much better situation than just promoting CFG yes men whose ambitions lay in the men's game.

Would also assume that our DoF knows him and his style really really well given his experience in Swedish football. So it will be cool to have a manager appointed by our DoF and the holistic thinking that ought to come with that.
