As with the coach attack, they will shield the blame, close ranks, and protect themselves. They are the most incompetent police force in the UK.
And there’s some seriously competition there

Still trying to figure out - was the car on the main parade route or on an adjacent street? Either way, he's got to know that he isn't going to get through all the people and its a bad decision to even drive through there.

I’m amazed less serious incidents of this nature don’t happen more often at many matches.
Over the years, the number of arseholes who think it is a good idea to drive a car down a road with half a mile of a football stadium is staggering. Less serious disagreements (in terms of both crowd and driver reactions) are semi regular events. But that still leads to arguments and car banging sometimes.

At City, the current flashpoint for this is grey mare lane, where for some reason dickheads, including taxis park up less than 20m from the ground, in a dead end (as the end of the road is closed) and then attempt to do a 3 point turn and drive through the crowd, as thousands walk down the road,

Water St wasn’t on the parade route acc to a map I think @jrb it was, posted earlier

Please don’t link the two. Jesus Christ.
I’m not.

Merseyside Police have to be answerable tonight.

As well as the event organisers and LCC.

Cars were travelling through the streets full of 1000’s off fans.

I’ve been very fair to all 3 of them tonight.

I have posted videos of the incident unfolding without making snap judgements. But somewhere along the line the organisation of the event fucked up and failed tonight.

There will be an enquiry looking at the event, and the event organisers, LCC, and Merseyside Police.

Sky were the first to say 50 odd year white man

Surprised you’ve not done the most basic of research before posting.
A basic question for an incident I’m catching up on. Your Langley links must be far to complicated for this ill-researched Manchester lad to comprehend.

Unsure of the tone of your reply, it’s just a horrific incident that we should all feel for.

Pretty much all roads lead to the Strand/Waterfront. All the roads should have been closed off to non emergency traffic.
I’m not disputing any of that bud, I was just trying to give the other poster a statement of fact, but I should have just left it, because I don’t have the map of the route to hand.

The Taxis now park out outside Mary D’s, doing u-turns. Then you have cars driving quickly out of school car parks further down, rushing to get home. I’ve seen a few near misses and altercations between pedestrians and drivers at the junction, especially after midweek games.

The sad part is the reaction and demand within minutes to know if the perpetrator is white or not, no fucks given to the victims.
Saw one or two of the videos and there were lots of shouts to kill the driver rather than concern for the injured. Whilst the driver deserves what’s coming to him and more, the thirst from some for summary justice over everything else is sad to see, and the police shouldn’t have to be wrestling with people who just want to attack the driver.

deliberate pared reporting last time (Southport) led to dangerous conjecture and mob rule... you can believe the authorities actually learned a lesson from that, or that they purposefully kept it from the public domain last time
BBC had the detail reported, Sky just seemed to leave it open.

Following the Southport issues, surely certain parts of the media need to be straight with the facts.

I do worry that media outlets are happy to allow things to escalate, all to give them more coverage in this 24 hr news cycle.

Just saying, mate.

Water street is off the Strand. See the map.

How has the car and other cars got down there when Water street is still full of 1000’s of fans?

When the Great Manchester Run is on the Mancunian Way and Deansgate is closed off to traffic, as well as other major city centre roads close to the race route. No traffic is allowed. As an example of an event being organised well.
