Independent Article - City's Identity - Feels spot on :(

I don't get the criticism it's receiving from our fans. We've spoke at length on this forum how the powers of be has become disconnected with the fanbase from the pricing perspective to Sorriano's relationship with the fans. If one word was to summarise this season it would be apathy. They have focused so much of developing the Manchester City brand that they've forgotten the Manchester City club somewhat.
Ogden may be an arsehole but it's only what many have been saying for a while. The turn-out after the game on Sunday demonstrated quite starkly how the majority of match-going fans feel. It's not apathy, it's outright antipathy. The executive, the manager and the players all seem to have disappeared behind the walls of their castle but occasionally throw a few goodies to the peasants outside the walls. It shouldn't take much to make the fans feel important or valued but the club don't even do the little that's required.

I actually do agree with him.there is a frosty wind blowing from camp etihad. We used to have a rapport with the players and club but now it's hard not to feel like an outsider and not part of it. I feel like I give my money, they take it and that's it.

Why would you not believe this when the evidence suggests it's true ? You believed everything you heard about Mancini without question so why is this so hard to believe ?

I can see both sides of this. The players should have come and applauded the fans after more away games. Fewer tickets for prestige aways should have gone to corporates.

However, I've been to the CFA in recent weeks and the staff are helpful and professional. I've met several of the players who were friendly and committed.

For all the many thousands of fantastic Blues, we seem to have growing numbers who can't handle the battle with the Rags for Champs League football. We can hide behind criticisms of the Club but as a fan base, we are just not as passionate as we used to be

Spot on, unfortunately. Alienating the fans is never the best idea.

To be fair you would always expect players who come through a clubs youth academy to have a special affection for a club. Therefore it's no wonder that the likes of Martial, Depay and De Gea are life long United fans.

Haha! And Danny Wellbeck would rather at for Arsenal!

Some truth in this but not a lot IMHO. Some Blues (and I'm not including you in this) feel obliged to support such speculative articles because this was their "evidence base" for their dislike of Mancini! I'm still waiting to see the CIA dossier lol! The tens of thousands of match going fans knew better though!

Ogden is a city hating ****. Not clicked but just the headline fills me with joy. Not only is he hurting he's fucking shitting himself.

It does though, yet again, beg the question why the fuck is this piece of dog shit allowed anywhere near our stadium.

Perfectly put.

He's talking about a club 'losing its sole' that he would have openly mocked in his time as a united fanzine editor, and now he's getting all misty eyed for the days of Frank Clarke and Peter Swales? Fucking hypocrite.

Agreed, Soriano has been a big disappointment as CEO in terms of direction for Manchester City FC, he seems consumed by the CFG. As a City fan I have no interest in the CFG.

Garry Cook took a lot of criticism, some justified but whatever his faults you could never doubt his total commitment to the better of Manchester City. He shouted our name from the roof tops, everyone outside the club laughed, but he was right! we have become a major force in world football, and the fact that Pep will be our manager next year is testament to that.

I think the time is right to hear from our present CEO, lets hear his vision of Manchester City Football Club!

Haha... Imagine going down to your local Aldi, and when you've bagged your shopping you stay behind and wait for the staff who've put everything on the shelves to finish their shifts... Then applaud them out of the store :/

You can do if you want to! I'd rather be supporting City lol!

Looks like Chappers has given his end of season review. Always good to get the mood of the people on the coal face as it were.

Having said that I do think City currently has a sort of 'being run by the Borg collective' vibe. Cook could be a PR nightmare at times but at least he was human. Mancini was prone to explosions of incoherent rage, Tevez went on strike, Mario was letting off fireworks from his bathroom and we still won the league.

Happy days.

I reckon Chappers will be out of a job as soon as Pep arrives. Pep's not too keen on media figures in support roles!
