At base fault - as in many other countries - religion. Completely false, made-up, extreme beliefs in a (usually) peaceful deity - resulting in widespread bloodshed. Sunni versus Shia versus Catholic versus Protistan versus Hindi versus Buddhist versus unbelievers... fucking religious zealots are responsible for much (but not all) of the world's strife.

Meanwhile, these religious nuts are typically ultra conservative and couldn't give a shit for the welfare of the common person. Fucking sanctimonious bastards.
