Individual Match Tickets

I’m in exactly the same boat mate.

I suppose it serves me right for not maintaining my season ticket continuously for the last 35 years, but you know what, there’s been times when life has got in the way …
Same here and, for all the wonderful success, the most fun watching city was when we were shit, the dark humour, the togetherness, the need to be pissed or stoned to watch us, taking over little league one towns and grounds. The club needed us now they don't and they don't care.

Those were some times weren’t they?
(When we were younger obviously ;-)

Stand corrected on some of this.

The way people apply for and pay for an away ticket via the OSC branches has been changed by the club.

The branch takes the names of OSC members for a certain away game. The OSC branch sends that list to the club. If you qualify for an away ticket the club sends you an email or link/message to your City mobile wallet, not been clarified yet, and you have 48 hours to pay the club directly for your away ticket or you lose it and it goes to back to the club.

Away games have a percentage issued to match day members and you can’t do more than 3? a year.

Probably the wrong thread to expand this argument. But I doubt there’s ever been a season since match day membership was introduced when they couldn’t have got tickets for three away games. Possibly last season. I don’t follow it that closely.

The trouble is, it’s the three games that no one but the away regulars are interested in.

It's not quite closed shop though, people who have a decent points tally have been going for years and watched us when we were shit.

Sorry but back in 08, 09 and 10, some of those Europa home games were embarrassing where the 3rd tiers were empty, my argument would be where the fuck were some of these so called fans back then who now think they are loyal lol. Likewise when Pearce was in charge, parts were empty. Just use points, simple as.

When I had an ST, losing out to other fans for United away on points was fair and square, can't complain. Why points can't be used for matchday home games is ridiculous.
The loyalty points system as it’s currently used is archaic. I like the idea of loyalty points better than a ballot or even worse the current free for all, but registering points from an arbitrary date back in 2002 or whenever it was, makes no sense. Some people who are currently hunting for tickets possibly weren’t even born back in 2008, 09 or 10.

A five year rolling loyalty points scheme would be the best way as far as I’m concerned. The majority of games wouldn’t need to be sold via loyalty points, but the big games would, so if you want to be at the front of the queue for United and Liverpool or Champions League semi finals then make sure you go to games against Fulham and Wolves when there is no criteria.

Like I said previously if people with high points still attend regularly then they'll still get the priority anyway. Don't know why anybody would have any objection to this unless you've taken a sabbatical for a number of years and still think you should have the priority. This method if it is to be utilised needs bringing in ASAP though as the current winners of the free for all last week would effectively be winning twice.

I fear any such proposal would fall on deaf ears though. Membership sales is ultimately the bottom line and anything like this could jeopardise that. They only use criteria for games reluctantly when there are fears for crowd safety and nothing to do with rewarding loyal fans. Our value to them has changed beyond recognition and it's ALL about the money.

I think the problem with home ticket availability is partially the result of the obsession with away tickets that dominated this forum for years. The impression given to anyone reading from City is that home tickets were very subordinate to away tickets.

Regardless of that, what is needed are solutions. The seiner we get the the expanded North Stand the better. How about guaranteeing a thousand season cards in the new stand to the highest points carrying match day members

Probably due to the relative ease that home tickets could be secured. This clearly isn't the case now.

Any new season-tickets MUST be allocated through some form of prioritising loyalty and not this free-for-all nonsense. I'd still use the 5 year rolling method for that too though.

Not saying this is what I think should happen but you could make the counter argument that anybody with high points has had multiple opportunities to buy a season ticket in the past.

So does that make them more worthy than a new fan who’s never had the opportunity?

There were loads of away tickets available a few years ago if people were prepared to out in the hard yards. Instead a very vocal minority obsessed about tickets for Old Trafford and Anfield
