No I don't think you ignored your personal feeling one little bit there did you.

As the great Skashion explained, did we do this against Hamburg? Yes. We did. Were we prematurely celebrating? No.

ALso, you ignored my point about me not bursting into church on a Sunday to explain to them that they are all wrong and wasting their lives. We must you impinge on our fun?

I ignored your church comparison because it was inane, vacuous and utterly stupid. It also didn't constitute a "point" as to class it as such would give it too much merit.

I did indeed ignore my personal feelings, as it's I who have ignored them then it is only I that can tell you whether I have in fact done so. You may not believe I did but, quite frankly, I can't say that I'm overly bothered by that.

I honestly can't remember if we had inflatables for the Hamburg game or not, it was 2 years ago, I've been to many games since so the exact details of what the crowd held in their hands for that one escapes me. Whether it's been done in the past or not isn't really the point here, inflatables were waved at football matches all the time in the late 80's and early 90's, and obviously those occasions can't be attributed to prematurely celebrating. However each game needs to be assessed on its own merits, and a home tie against Reading in the FA Cup Quarter Final combined with a "lets wave blow up fruit" campaign gives the impression of celebrating early, whether you like it or not. Should we lose that match the picture people will take away from the game is a group of fans in party mode trudging away from the game looking rather foolish.

If a worst case scenario was to hit dont worry. I will take a box of pins with me so inflatables could be popped and therefor i would not look foolish leaving the ground, pins can be used by all upon request.

Just take all the inflatables into the toilets behind Block 110, there's enough lit cigarettes in there to burn holes in them all within 10 seconds!!

Whilst I'm neither for nor against inflatables, we'll look right twats if we lose. It's almost like we're partying before getting the result. I don't think we'd be doing it if we had Arsenal in the quarter final.

well were not going to wait till the whistle goes and then blow up inflatables

Better option rather than waste them lets throw them all into the away end and let Reading have a nice big party courtesy of those lovely MCFC fans.

It was not vacuous at all. Nor was it utterly stupid. Infact, for a supposed mod, your tone and word usage are needlessly antagonistic and provocative. Perhaps you lack in intelligence to understand my point, I do not know.

Why come in the thread and try and rain on our parade? Do you hope that we will all cease and desist? Do you hope to make a 60 page thread stop dead with your special opinion? Or do you just wish to appear superior?

People go to church, it is their business, they do not hurt people (on the whole) because of it and it gives them joy. People bringing inflatables also brings people entertainment and happiness (see 15,000 page views on this thread alone). As I say, it is exactly the same thing, I wouldn't try and make a Christian feel stupid, just to make my point known and heard and I see no reason why you would wish to come in this thread and do so. Perhaps you were not hugged as a nipper and feel the need to lash out? I don't know.

But to not be able to remember Hamburg is a little on the stange side. Most City fans would agree that it was the best atmosphere that has been had at COMS since we moved.

That is the match report from the game and the official site asked blues to bring inflatables for that game especially. Here is an excerpt:

Thousands of flags and inflatable bananas helped stoke up an electric atmosphere as the teams emerged, City getting an ovation the likes of which had probably not been seen or heard since we moved from Maine Road.

If you don't like banana's, inflatables or anything else that people are trying to do to improve the atmosphere then fine, but there is no need to lecture those that are looking forward to it.

I remember the Hamburg match very clearly, I remember the atmosphere was fantastic, I remember the action on the pitch, I don't remember if some people chose to wave plastic bananas or not. Surprisingly it wasn't what I was concentrating on.

The church comparison was entirely idiotic, as is the further comments that, essentially, should I not share the "inflatables are fantastic" opinion then I shouldn't post anything in this thread. This is a football forum, and this is a football thread, it is perfectly acceptable to express whatever opinion I deem fit in here, whether it be pro or anti the thread theme. To go into a church and mock their belief in God is totally different, and if you can't see that then you are more dense than your post history would have lead me to believe. In Off Topic I have expressed my opinion on God quite openly in threads related to it, and I haven't held back in my opinions. THAT is the place where doing so is acceptable, not in an actual church. So, as I said, your "point" was ridiculous.

At no point did I state my opinion was superior, or indeed special. I posted as a regular board member my opinion on a board topic. It is you that have drawn attention to me position as a moderator and tried to suggest that I believe my opinion is more "worthy" because of this, not I. I also did not lecture anyone on the subject of inflatables. I made a 2 sentence statement. I then responded to the standard "You don't agree with us therefore you don't have the right to express an opinion" posts that, over the years, have become more and more prevelant on Bluemoon. If you don't like what I have to say on a subject ignore it, however if you chose to quote me and respond then don't later chastise me for doing the same.

We get it you are of the opinion inflatibles are shite

We've heard all this inflatables, smoke bombs, and flares shite before. There was about 20 bananas against Hamburg. The atmosphere was created by 40,000 people singing, many after a good few ales in the afternoon, not by a sodding lilo. The whole thing makes most city fans I know cringe with embarassment.

I can just see MOTD cameras zooming in on some numpty crying like scolded child clutching his inflatable penis when we get turned over (as is usual in Quarter finals).

I know Im a miserable ****.
