Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

He has the lowest pain threshold in football. Several times this season he’s gone down like we won’t see him again this season and then he’s completely fine. Stretchered off with his shirt over his head for an impact injury!? He needs toughening up.

I want more from him, he's got all the skills and tricks in his locker, but he needs to toughen up and play and stop being a mard arse, The other team will work you out very quickly and know to kick you or leave a bit on you early.

He's young and has to learn and being a Manchester City player in the Premier League you're going to get kicked all the time and the referee will not protect you because of the badge and shirt,

Very Antony like, thankfully that’s where most of the similarities end!

He has a dive in him too.

He will get there.

That's a stupid take. Our medical staff has been great and has helped us win the Treble and 4 in a row. Injuries happen, especially after years of fighting for multiple trophies.
It’s not the medical staff that need fucking it’s the recruitment which has done us . We knew all summer that Alvarez wasn’t happy and was looking to move yet we sat and waited and watched hen he went and we still sat and waited whilst getting rid of Delap another striker and now we are hoping to god that the big man stays injury free as we can’t rotate him and then we have kdb who is a legend but is injured more than he plays now and finally we had Rodri who was fucked at the end of last season and even got injured at the euros which was a massive red flag but we didn’t act and he is out for the season and we have no cover . Out recruitment over the years has been fantastic but we need to call it this season what it is and that is total rubbish .

Pretty sure the management will/have reviewed the events with regards to recruitment as the season has unfolded.

What they never do is make kneejerk decision's especially with such issues as recruitment.

Planning for injuries is impossible, so having a squad that under most circumstances will be able to cover will have been the plan.

A reluctance on Pep's part to have a large squad is also a factor, and hindsight is always easier to apply.

The current number of injuries/absences for whatever reasons does appear to be out of the norm.

An unexpected bonus could be an opportunity for some of our kids .

Get Jacob Wright in he looks promising.

I said multiple times that I wanted Pep to be persuaded to have a larger squad but forcing something on him would be unwise as he is the key person in our current success.

Even if we had one or two more players, this would still be an "injury crisis" and one that was hard to legislate for; although given that our players probably play more games than most, the chances of problems maybe should have driven the squad towards a slightly bigger squad.

Hopefully, all concerned will agree that a bit more depth needs to be added in January.

A reasonable, rational, insightful post regarding the topic of the thread that contains no hyperbole, vitriol, or nonsensical proclamations?

Compared with last season, are we not a few up anyway?

Savio in for Alvarez.
Gundogan will play more than Gomez did.
McAtee is then an extra player.
Bobb was expected to be a much bigger part of the squad.
Rico is clearly one of Pep's first team regulars now.
And then we've had Nunes stepping up in the past few games.

Between them, that's arguable the equivalent of 2-3 more players available.

With anything like normal levels of fitness, we'd be quickly back to the "when will X ever get a chance" debates.

Agreed. No way we could have planned for the current injury crisis - no club could

A simple straightforward answer. No need for drama. The club is run exceptionally well not to panic in any situation.

The owners have been here since 2008 and would have learned an awful lot in that time. We have plenty of obstacles but panic buying is something we need to avoid. It very rarely works out. I would rather the kids step up until we identify the correct player needed.

I do hope we strengthen midfield in January. The lack of transfer options is an issue we will do well to remedy.
