Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

this injury is the least of a surprise we knew he is very injury prone (was built into his low price) and usually its more 2-4 weeks ones rather than one large, thats how he has done multiple seasons at Chelsea too and thats exactly his last season showed and this season will be same. i expect him to have another 2x of these injuries after December too, hopefully on the shorter side 1-3 weeks, rather than 3-5 weeks.

When's Bobb back? He only broke his leg right? 6 weeks in a cast then he can start light work? He did it almost 4 months ago now.

Only broke his leg ? Lol apart from the broken bone he will have soft tissue damage and muscle and ligaments torn, it will take a while !
You know for a fact he tore ligaments? What if it was a clean break of the bone only? My son has broken his leg and it wasn't a bad rehab at all. I know there are different ways and different types breaks.

They said new year shortly after his injury so we can assume it was a little more complex.

Funny that Bobb was asked about as I came to ask about him because I saw Goncalo Ramos START for PSG today after breaking his fibula around the same exact time. Obviously, everyone is different. I hope Bobb didn't break his tibia and fibula, as that can be pretty common.

I've never really understood the notion of how and why certain players are "injury prone"

Obviously if they've got a weakness to a specific muscle, ligament or joint that results in a recurring injury it makes sense, but when they just seem to constantly suffer from an abnormally high number of unrelated minor injuries to varied different muscles, ligaments and joints it doesn't really add up.

Why do some people pick up illnesses more than others?

Humans are all different, we all have different weaknesses of some sort.

The fact he isn't back fit would suggest it was more complicated than a 'simple' clean break, no?

Again that's down to a specific weakness, ie a weak immune system. Like if a player had a specific weakness such as a weak ACL or weak Achiles I could understand it.

I'm more talking about players who seem to constantly pick up a wide and varied range of different unrelated injuries.
