Looks in better condition than most of the team
It's true we work with a smaller squad than say Real Madrid. But if we had another 5 players & we than didn't get the injuries, how easy would it be to keep those players satisfied as bit part players. Most stay a year or 2 then move on because they want to play games like any top class athlete would. I.e. Jesus, Palmer, Laporte etc. Phillips hasn't been good enough to replace Rodri. Not sure how he is doing at Ipswich. Nunes has been used at right back. We have also promoted some of the academy..Rico, Oreilly, Macatee which I would always say makes more sense than buying for the sake of it a player who isn't as good as academy players. Anyway I'm sure the club are constantly trying to balance the squad but for me they have invested huge amounts over the years. Is it though?
Obviously Rodri has been a major long term injury.
I think one of the issues is Pep using a very small amount of players.
Stones, DeBruyne and Ake have been regularly injured in previous seasons.
We had some very good players who could fill in when they were missing.
That option isn't available this season.
There will be a push back from players, their union and the clubs if the playing load from unnecessary games continues to affect players health....physical or mental.Same for many clubs. Governing bodies don’t care, they just put more games on.
Gwan Darius...That pic has got me humming away to 10CC' s Dreadlock Holiday
Hahahahaha big game focuses the mind and suddenly it’s what injury I’m fine ;-)Nothing like an upcoming game against Real Madrid to clear the treatment room….
