Injuries 2024/25 | Dias ruled out for a month

Just last night I was saying elsewhere on the forum that this cycle of injuries will continue until we add numbers to the squad. Every defender is coming back and is immediately thrown straight in and expected to go full tilt until they break again because there's no alternative
Left too many players out on loan.
Last minute deals saw Kabore , Couto and Callum Doyle go. Not saying that we should have kept all three but two of those had a good bit of experience

No playing time for the youngsters that did stay with the panel. McAtee an example.

No vision of the pathway for younger players coming through. Not just our own youths but some we have bought and sent out on loan. Unal an example.

The above are not necessarily Grade A players but would beef up the squad. If a right back gets injured, we should be in a position to have another coming in in his place. Not moving players around constantly.

Nothing to do with the last 4 years non stop football then?

Seriously. In the last 4 seasons:

2 UCL finals and the semis once
1 League Cup final
2 FA Cup finals
38 PL games a season
2 CWC games

And now we're adding 2 games to the UCL (and 2 more if we don't crash out) before the knockouts, and this stupid tournament for FIFA to force top level European clubs into the US.

We've been lucky that it took this long for the wheels to fall off.

Every defender is coming back and is immediately thrown straight in and expected to go full tilt until they break again because there's no alternative. It isn't a coincidence that they all keep getting injured a few weeks after returning. it's nothing to do with luck either, this is a direct consequence of the piss poor, negligent decision to go into a season with 6 defenders. It's all of our own doing.
This is where we should be using the academy. I keep hearing that we have no midfielders or creative players. When we have players like wright and Mcatee on the bench.

What’s the point in them being there, if they don’t get a chance when everyone is out of form. There more than capable.

It's just one player gets back to training and another picking up an injury this season I can say alot of examples that has happend and I keep remembering pep quote saying he likes to work with a small squad

This season can get fucked. Christ on a bike.

Dias seems to be as injury prone as Ake and Stones but seems to be left out of certain debates for whatever reason.

Dreading Saturday more than I already was now.

Just a total brainfart, yes the small squad wasn't a problem in previous seasons but they should've seen it coming when the CL was expanded and with the Club World cup coming, you didn't to be nostradamus.
That's a fair comment. This was always going to be brutal season and the balance of the squad was not right with too many players over 30. When you couple that with poor recruitment you have a perfect storm. We have been unlucky with inuries but mistakes have been made. We have to kick on in the transfer market urgently.
