It can take athletes two full years to return to full readiness for elite performance after an ACL injury and the ligamenting of tendon surgery.I don't think there's a magic formula for such a serious injury, nor an ideal time to return after surgery. Carvajal was just announced today that he will be out for the next six to ten weeks after a month out last September.
I don't think the City and Real Madrid staff are incompetent; that's how it is, and you have to deal with it.
But apart from that he’ll be fine?It can take athletes two full years to return to full readiness for elite performance after an ACL injury and the ligamenting of tendon surgery.
Along the way, injuries - either to the ligamenting tendon, the ACL in the other knee or secondary injuries elsewhere due to overcompensation of weight distribution in natural movements (eg limping) putting stress on certain parts of different muscles - are common.
Rodri only got the injury and had the surgery in September 2024. There could be 10 more months of him picking up injuries here or there.
Also, there is always the threat of rerupturing it and having to start from square one, plus the onset of osteoarthritis in the knee.
He might well be fine, but by the time he’ll mostly be clear of the reïnjury phase, he’ll be 31 and won’t be getting any better as a player by that age anyway. But apart from that he’ll be fine?

That’s a major blow if true.
